Thirty-track assortment of sides in which Rio played a part between the mid-1950s and mid-1960s. It's a hodgepodge of a few Champs cuts (including "Tequila"), the entire Surfer's Nightmare recording by the Persuaders, issued and unissued material credited to Chuck Rio, issued and unissued cuts credited to Danny Flores, and even one ascribed to "Danny Boy." Rio was a fine saxophone player, and deserves some credit for helping spread Latin influences into rock. However, he didn't come up with the kind of material that can sustain interest over the course of a lengthy compilation such as this. Aside from "Tequila," the better tracks are "Margarita" and the Champs' "Midnighter" and "El Rancho Rock," but even these are obviously derived from the "Tequila" approach. He takes vocal on a few songs, which are likewise standard gritty '50s rock & roll, with the exception of the odd 1956 hillbilly country outing "Worried, Restless and Sad." --- Richie Unterberger, allmusic.com
