Laura & Meg Baird: While making this record, we felt taken back to our earliest recordings in the early 90’s—when we would hole up with a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder (Portastudio 246, R.I.P.), and had an assortment of homemade cassettes-only releases available at open mics scattered through central New Jersey. Influenced by Appalachian mountain music, contemporary outsider folk, and Library of Congress recordings of their great-great uncle, I.G. Greer, sisters Laura and Meg Baird have been performing together since 2001.
