Colbie Caillat's 2014 EP, Gypsy Heart: Side A, features more of the Malibu-based singer/songwriter's melodic, passionate pop music. The album follows her 2011 full-length effort, All of You, and a 2012 holiday-themed release, Christmas in the Sand. Written over a two-year period, Gypsy Heart: Side A showcases Caillat's growth as a songwriter, and finds her delving into a more sophisticated studio sound via producers Max Martin, Johan Carlsson, and Julian Bunetta.
