Ładnych kilka lat kazali nam czekać na swoje nowe wydawnictwo. Ale jak już się razem zebrali, nagrali materiał i go wydali to nie pozostaje nic innego jak składać gratulacje! Nowa płyta Retrospective „Re: Search” to kolejny dowód na to, że to jeden z najciekawszych zespołów sceny progresywnej!

Gdy tylko pojawiają się pierwsze dźwięki „Rest Another Time” słychać, ze to właśnie Retrospective. Oni mają wypracowany tak specyficzny i charakterystyczny styl, że nie sposób pomylić ich twórczości z nikim innym. A żeby tego było mało, od poprzedniej płyty do głosu (dosłownie) doszła Beata Łagoda, która nadała muzyce zespołu nowego blasku! Chórki oraz partie śpiewane w duecie z Jakubem Roszakiem są po prostu wyborne. „Right Way”, “Heaven Is Here” czy “Look In The Mirror” są tego najlepszymi przykładami. Jeżeli do tego dodamy wyjątkowo sprawnych instrumentalistów, z masą pomysłów w głowie, to “Re: Search” nie mogło wyjść słabo!

Na płycie dominuje inteligentny i przemyślany rock (zwany progresywnym). Wspominany „Heaven Is Here ” to niezwykle udana “retrospectivowa” ballada a w „Last Breath” zespół postanawia nieco dołożyć do pieca, tak więc jest mrok i „gęsta” atmosfera. Nieco z innej bajki jest początek „Roller Coaster”, który rozpoczyna się niczym dancingowa piosenka, ale rozkręca się , przyspiesza i “odjeżdża” niczym tytułowa lunaparkowa atrakcja.

Ciekawe jak długo jeszcze zespół będzie czekać na prawdziwy sukces. Retrospective wciąż poruszają się w niszy, ale przykład Riverside pokazuje, że można się z niej wyrwać! Ta pochodząca z Leszna formacja ma w sobie ogromny potencjał i brakuje im chyba już tylko odrobiny szczęścia, czego im z całego serca życzę... --- Piotr Michalski, rockarea.eu

It took four years from the debut for Polish Prog Metal act Retrospective to release their second, and then another five for this their third, so let's hope that they don't keep on this progression as I really don't want to wait for six years until the next one! There is a real mix of melody and metal combined with rock sensibilities and passion that makes this album stand out from many others within the genre. It is just about impossible to make a comparison with other bands, but possibly the closest would be Muse or Porcupine Tree, but even that's not fair on either band. One of the things that makes this album is the way that they have managed to bring so much space into the compositions, so much so that there are times when the instruments seem miles apart, as opposed to all being in the same room. This allows the listener to listen to the music as well as all the minute details of what everyone is doing.

This is real 'grown up' progressive music, that has so much to offer anyone who enjoys the genre. Good vocals, with all the lyrics in in strong English, this is album that deserves to be given full attention, as opposed to something being played in the background. I've lost track of the great Polish bands I've heard over the years, and only hope that these guys will gain the attention they deserve, as this is a goody. --- kev Rowland, progarchives.com
