Ariane Moffatt presents 22h22, a new album that takes electro-pop to a new level, incorporating elements of dream-pop, trip-hop and dubstep. Entirely in French, it has at its core Ariane's ethereal, poetic, yet powerful voice. The lyrics are more explicit and personal than ever before, delivered with gusto overtop of powerful musical lines. The album was produced and arranged by Ariane Moffatt and Jean-Phi Goncalves (Beast), with contributions from François Lafontaine (Karkwa). The recording sessions took place in various Montreal studios, including the Studio de l’Est and the Pierre Marchand Studio, and were mixed mainly by Pascal Shestefy. Ariane Moffatt joins Simone Records for this new album. A vinyl version will also be available. ---archambault.ca
I like the balance that Ariane has achieved on this album; the pure synth-pop of "De mort à vivant," which features a Fanny Bloom chorus that out does Fanny Bloom - sits comfortably shoulder-to-shoulder "Les deux cheminées" - the type of song that justifies the admission price alone - it's hopelessly romantic and Ariane's voice holds the centre-stage and the attention magnificently. ---SteveinSoCal, arianemoffatt.bandcamp.com
