Brazilian jazz pianist, composer, and vocalist Eliane Elias maker her Concord Picante debut with Light My Fire. The set features sultry versions of the title track (backed by 12 players) by the Doors, Stevie Wonder's "My Cherie Amour," and Paul Desmond's "Take Five," as well as four Elias originals and some Brazilian standards. The legendary Gilberto Gil lends his voice and guitar to three tracks, vocalist Amanda Brecker (Elias's and Randy Brecker's daughter) guests on "Toda Menina Baiana," The entire set melds Elias's trademarked Brazilian grooves into classic pop and modern jazz tunes. ---cduniverse

Brazilian jazz pianist, vocalist Eliane Elias' 2011 Concord Picante debut Light My Fire is a romantic and sultry affair that showcases her knack for traditional bossa nova tunes as well as few inspired covers. Joining Elias here are a few special guests including Brazil legend Gilberto Gil, who sings on three tracks, as well as singer Amanda Brecker (Elias' daughter with trumpeter Randy Brecker) who appears on "Toda Menina Baiana." Also backing Elias are a bevy of talented individuals, including producer/bassist Marc Johnson, guitarist Oscar Castro-Neves, percussionists Rafael Barata and Paulo Braga, and trumpeter Brecker.
