Romantic balladeer, Drupi (born: Giam Piero Anelli) became one of the few Italian artists to have a hit a hit in the United Kingdom when his song, Vado Via, reached the seventeenth slot on the British pop charts in 1974. The winner of the San Remo Festival song competition, the tune remained in the British top fifty for three months and was subsequently covered by the Loud Family, the New Seekers and Frida.

Born in the northern Italian city of Pavia, Drupi found his early inspiration in the music of the Beatles. In the mid-1960s, he performed with an Italian rock band, the Magnets.

Giampiero Anelli znany w muzycznym świecie jako Drupi karierę solową rozpoczął na początku lat 70. W 1973 roku Drupi podczas Festiwalu Piosenki Włoskiej w San Remo zaprezentował utwór „Vado Via”, który stał się jego pierwszym wielkim przebojem.

Od tego czasu piosenki Drupiego nieprzerwanie gościły na listach przebojów w wielu krajach świata. Po występie w 1978 roku na festiwalu w Sopocie, gdzie zaprezentował swój megahit „Sereno e” stał się on wielka gwiazdą również w Polsce. Jego popularność w naszym kraju dorównywała popularności artysty we Włoszech.

Drupi jest wciąż aktywny na muzycznej scenie - nagrywa i koncertuje. Jego ostatnie koncerty we Francji, w Niemczech , w Czechach i Rosji spotkały się z fantastycznym przyjęciem. Występy artysty w naszym kraju również przyciągają tłumy fanów włoskiej muzyki. Jego utwory są znane i lubiane w Polsce.
