This CD presents some of the works composed for the chapel of the University of Salamanca in the middle of the eighteenth century by Juan de Aragüés (ca. 1710-1793), an organist and harpist who would succeed Antonio de Yanguas as professor of the University of Salamanca. The repertory, in a style in which late Baroque and early Classical features overlap, included liturgical music and villancicos such as ¡Ah de las esferas! (1743), for double choir, which gives the album its title. ---festivalubedaybaeza.com
