Lucia Popp (1939-1993) richly endowed the world of music during her short life. Her artistry and personality are apparent in a multitude of recordings, many of which are among the finest made in the late twentieth century. The State Operas of Vienna and Munich honored Lucia Popp with the title of Kammersängerin and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra awarded her the 'Silver Rose'. The recordings in this album awaken both painful and happy memories of the artist before her unexpected death from cancer. ---EditorialReviews
