Serge Lancen (1922-2005) was a French composer and pianist. His early compositions were mainly for piano and solo instruments, but he soon turned to composing for band and chamber ensembles. 'Mascarade' was written in 1986 and was premiered at the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles conference in Boston in 1987.
