Towards the end of the eighteenth century, the harp began to be given special attention as an instrument for virtuosos and gradually, with its realistic sound effects and ornaments, it becamefashionable. The harp virtuosos frequently set about creating a repertoire for themselves and their pupils that catered to the prevailing demand and tastes. The handful of harp concertos by celebrated composers nonetheless attained more lasting fame, as this recording proves. Jutta Zoff, who has been with the Staatskapelle since 1977, impressively demonstrates her perfect command of this exceptional instrument. --- mdt.co.uk
