Reinventing the standard jazz trio with a defiantly convention-breaking approach to improvisational music, The Bad Plus has carved out a niche as one of the most unique voices in modern music. The trio, featuring Ethan Iverson piano, Dave King drums, and Reid Anderson bass, first gained notice for their audacious interpretations of rock and pop songs.

Joshua Redman is one the most acclaimed and charismatic jazz artists to have emerged in the 90s. With a big meaty tone and a soulful style reminiscent of Sonny Rollins, the wildly talented and expressive tenor saxophonist has become a standard-bearer for exciting contemporary jazz, while his accessibility and charisma have made him one of the more popular and recognizable jazz artists. The Bad Plus to amerykańska formacja rodem z Minneapolis, powstała w 2000 roku, w której skład wchodzą: pianista Ethan Iverson, basista Reid Anderson i perkusista Dave King. Choć muzycy znają się od 1989 roku, dopiero ponad dekadę później zarejestrowali premierowy album jako trio. Podczas występu w nowojorskiej Village Vanguard, który trio zagrało po zaledwie trzech innych koncertach, grupę wypatrzył pracujący dla wytwórni Columbia, Yves Beauvais, który zaprosił The Bad Plus do pracy w tej wielkiej firmie. --- jazzarium.pl
