Delivering another round of cool vocal sides from the Atlantic vaults, Rhino comes through with a second helping of tracks from across the jazz spectrum. Slightly better than the first volume and packing 18 cuts, Atlantic Jazz Vocals: Voices of Cool, Vol. 2 takes in traditional jazz work from Betty Carter and Carmen McCrae, as well as more pop and soul offerings by Bobby Darin and Aretha Franklin. Mostly, though, one gets a chance to hear such obscure and unsung talents as Nancy Harrow, Austin Cromer, and Lurlean Hunter.
