The Jazz Band Ball Orchestra is the oldest big band in Poland that performs traditional jazz. It was founded in the fall of 1962, when they were formed by students from the Academy of Music in Cracow.
During the 1962's 9th annual jazz festiwal in Kraków, they awed their audience, and since then they have been partcipating in many jazz festivals in Poland (among others: Jazz Jamboree, Old Meeting Jazz) and abroad (North See Jazz Festival, Dixieland Meeting, Dixieland Jazz Jubilee, and more), as well as tours across the world. From it's founding until today it has enjoyed unflagging popularity.
The music that the Jazz Band Ball Orchestra plays is a mix of swing and blues. Their basis is formed by New Orleans Jazz, but in addition to Jazz standards they also play independent compositions.
The current members of the band are: Jan Kudyk (trumpet, vocals), Wojtek Groborz (piano, arranger), Wiesław Jamioł (drums), Teofil Lisiecki (double bass, manager), Jacek Mazur (tenor saxophone, clarinet, vocals), Marek Michalak (trombone, vocals). ---dragonswing.pl
