Black Snake Moan is an unusual "one man band" with primitive style roots that result in an intense magical experimental sound. It found inspiration into Delta Blues along with psychedelia, a transcendental union that gave birth to the album "Spiritual Awakening”, released on February 2017.

The listener will be taken through a spiritual trip made of reverb waves and ancestral echoes, recalling shamanic mysticism and naturalistic spirituality. ---oddwop.com

 

Constricted by the Black Snake King, in a nightmare of a dark night, almost overpowered by the tightening coils of the unconscious. I awakened from the power of the Snake.

The reaction is unsettling. Everything is moving following a new rhythm, an inner rhythm, a spiritual dance: contraction and relaxation, a new reality.

Se il classico blues in MI - LA - SI vi annoia, l'album "Spiritual Awakening" fa al caso vostro. Il one man band Black Snake Moan è riuscito a uscire completamente dagli standard del genere, a metà tra blues e psichedelia.

Il primo brano "Old Black Snake" è il biglietto da visita che pur evidenziando l'origine blues, introduce quell'aurea psichedelica che ritornerà anche nel secondo brano "Never", che potremmo prendere come chiave di lettura dell'intero disco. L'omaggio al delta del Mississippi raggiunge il suo apice a metà della tracklist, tra "Funeral Season Blues" e "Don't Forget My Wild Love", in cui la continuità melodica crea un unicum, un anello di congiunzione indissolubile. A rafforzare poi il tocco black contribuisce l'uso delle percussioni minimale ma sempre presente, in particolare cassa e cimbali. A Black Snake Moan bastano pochi dettagli (come il bastone della pioggia in "Desert") per fornire indizi relativi all'immaginario da cui si abbevera: un deserto in cui aleggiano i Doors e la tradizione, un ritorno alle origini pregno di maliconia. ---Alice Sbroggiò, rockit.it
