Little is known about the life of itinerant delta bluesman Harlem Slim. What we do know, though, is that he was born in the New York area in the mid 1900's and that he began playing 1930's delta blues and piedmont ragtime/blues at a very early age.
He plays in the styles of Robert Johnson, Johnny Shines, Blind Willie McTell, Blind Boy Fuller, and Blind Blake. He is known to have associated with Louisiana Red, Memphis Slim, Billy Gibbons, Bob Brozman, Derek Trucks, Eric Johnson, and Dave Davies.
Harlem Slim plays and sings traditional delta blues and ragtime/blues solo acoustic and electric (fingerstyle, both bottleneck slide and fretted) on a variety of original 1920's & 30's vintage instruments. --- artistdirect.com
