In the early days, some cats down south mixed it with swamp gas and juju, and called their music ‘jazz’. In the 1950s, some white kid from Mississippi called Elvis Presley sped it up, inventing rock ‘n roll. Two decades later, Black Sabbath slowed it dowwwwnnn, cranked up the volume…and heavy metal was born. So what is it, that common element in musical creation?

It is the blues.

Now Smoke Stack Rhino, a new musical group from Melbourne, Australia have decided to explore what the blues might sound like in the 21st century. Formed in 2013, this band features ex-members of local metal and rock stalwarts 22 Hundred, Electrik Dynamite, Phonik and Three Time Thrill.

Influences include Buddy Guy, Led Zeppelin, The Black Keys, Rage Against The Machine, and Jimi Hendrix. ---cdbaby.com
