Giving it all to the fans, veteran warbler reimagines his edge. Accompanied for many years by unsympathetic, despite their intent, instrumentalists whose painted-by-numbers backgrounds flattened his voice nuances, Graham Bonnet has taken a full responsibility of it now, so there’s a sense of freedom on this concert EP – offered for free via Facebook. Here’s why, while the singer’s still undoubtedly able to rock hard and heavy, it’s not RAINBOW classics “Lost In Hollywood” and “All Night Long” that signify the change – although the latter is tastily spiced up with additional vocals on choruses – but rather “Suffer Me” from the ALCATRAZZ lore.
Explaining the song message, a dedication to his mother, Bonnet imbues it with emotional phrasing, yet “Love’s No Friend” demonstrates a different kind of emotional abandon where the audience participation contrasts Graham’s desperation. In their turn, guitarist Conrado Pesinato and bassist Beth-Ami Heavenstone add colorful sway to “Since You Been Gone” and put a spring in the nocturnal swing of “Night Games” to support the singer’s panache. Point made on-stage, and with a new single "My Kingdom Come" proving creative fire burns bright for him, the brilliant belter makes a bid for the future. --- dmme.net
