Bustan Abraham (lit.: "Abraham's Garden", or something like this Embarrassed) were an Israeli instrumental ensemble founded in 1991 by seven musicians (and the formation sometimes expanding up to 12 players), both arabs and jews, that play an incredible blend of acoustic music that compresses lots of cultures: Arabic and European music, Jazz, Indian, Turkish and flamenco, among many others.
Among their instrumentation, they play 'typical instruments' (such as violin, flute, banjo, bass and classical guitar) and ethnic instruments such as oud, qanun, baglama, kemence, ethnic percussions such as darbouka, tonbak, bodhran, tar, bandir, riq, daf and other tambourines and string instruments, and guesting lots of musicians, specially in the albums Abadai (where musician Ross Daly plays the Lyra and the Laouto) and Fanar (Achinoam Nini sings, Zakir Hussain plays the Tabla and Hariprasad Chaurasia Bansuri plays the flute)
Altough it's acoustic, Bustan Abraham's music is captivating, full of textures and energy, fabulous middle-eastern musical colours and flavours, and of course, top notch instrumentation with lots of solos and odd meters. ---progarchives.com
