El 2009 fue un año contradictorio para uno de los mejores guitarristas de Argentina y gran persona, Daniel Telis. Digo contradictorio, porque ha tenido una ultima etapa difícil en cuanto a salud, y por otro lado ha podido lanzar este cuarto disco solista, cosa que hoy en día no es poco.

“The new sound” nos trae mas de una decena de piezas musicales en su mayoría interpretadas instrumentalmente, donde Telis (siempre pongo Teliz con Z y tengo que cambiarlo, carajo!) expone su experiencia, sentimientos y virtudes en un solo redondo. El compacto muestra varias atmósferas sonoras, pasando de lo eléctrico y mas agresivo, a lo melódico y relajante.

De esta manera Daniel nos muestra un poco de sus ideas, haciendo lucir su capacidad de ejecutar las diferentes guitarras; ya que interpreta de 6 y 7 cuerdas. También deja entrever sus raíces tangueras con una mezcla de guitarra y bandoneón en “Fiestango”, haciendo mella al sabor rioplatense. Y sus limites no pasan solo por lo electrico al incluir fusiones con otros instrumentos clásicos como el cello en “Tribal Symphony”.

Me causa buena impresión como se fusiona la guitarra en este tema con la voz de su hija Paula, a tal punto que tuve que volver a escuchar el tema para saborearlo bien. Dani hoy en día esta en etapa de recuperación y pronto sabemos que volverá a estar 10 puntos.

DANIEL TELIS in an Argentinian guitarist with metal roots and jazz rock, classic and flamenco influences. In his career he always tried to mix all these styles together, reaching his music climax in his solo projects.

He released four instrumental solo albums : DanielTelis (1995), DanielTelisProject (2001), Angkor (2006) and The New Sound ( 2009). These albums gained a lot of success and positive judgements by the international and argentinian media. He played as a guitarist and composer in bands like El Reloj, Mordaz, Kamikaze, Alianza and together with Adrián Barilari ; as a session musician he left his mark in 38 edited albums.

He recorded pre-productions for Tarja Turunen ( ex Nigtwish vocalist), in the CD Barilari with the Finnish musicians Jens Johansson (keyboardist for Yngwie Malmstenn), with the Nightwish musicians, with other bands and solo Argentinian musicians. With his band The Daniel Telis Project took part in some tribute albums of bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden and Dream Theater. He also played with the ex Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman (in the guitar explosion 2003) and Andy Timmons (in the guitar explosion 2006), he also supported Ritchie Kotzen in 2005.

Daniel played in jams together with the Argentinian guiatirsts Luis Salinas, Ricardo Lew and Miguel Botafogo and took part in the Guitar Shows 2007 and 2008. He also played in The Namm 09 in Anaheim-California. At present, other than performing live together with his band “DANIEL TELIS PROJECT”, he writes for the magazine “Todo Guitarra y Bajo”. ---melodic-hardrock.com
