Born in 1974, he started to study music in 1983, in the Agrupación Musical Santa Cecilia, in Sedaví. He studied in the conservatories of Barcelona and Valencia, obtaining his degree with Honours, under the tutorship of Jaume Espigolé. In 1988 he started his jazz studies, in the Taller de Jazz in Sedaví, and he became a member of the Valencia Jazz Big Band, directed by Ramón Cardo. He has also taken part in lectures and seminars with artists such as George Vosburg (Solo for the Pittsburgh Orchestra) Michael P. Mossman, Claudio Roditti or Bobby Shew, among many others.
His musical versatility has led him to play with many bands and formations, such as the Moldavian National Chamber Orchestra, the Brass section of the CSMM of Barcelona, Jerez Texas, the Sedajazz Latin Ensemble…
As a freelance musician he has played and recorded with artists such as: Miguel Poveda, Presuntos Implicados, Sole Giménez, Michael Bubble, Armando Manzanero, Celia Cruz, Lucrecia,Martirio, Seguridad Social, Lolita, Jaime Urrutia, Santiago Auserón, Fundación Tony Manero…
One of his most outstanding collaborations was in April 97 in Lausanne (Switzerland) with the Solar Sides band for BMG. He also played with them on a world tour, playing in the most important jazz and electronic music festivals. He also took part in the recording of a monographic LP dedicated to Maurice Ravel with the Philarmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria.
He has collaborated with many Spanish jazz musicians: Perico Sambeat, Ximo Tebar, Mario Rossy, Eladio Reinón, Joan Soler, Jordi Vilá, Fabio Miano, Sedajazz Big Band… and he has played with international artists such as: Clark Terry, Chris Cheek, Mike Mossman, Steve Marcus, Richie Cole, Jack Walrath, Dennis Rowland, Paquito D’Rivera, Frank Wess, Bobby Shew, Slide Hampton, Pat Metheny, Bob Mintzer, Danilo Pérez, Giovanni Hidalgo and (recently) with Donald Harrison.
He has played in prestigious jazz festivals like those in Montreal (Canada), Montreux (Suiza), Eurojazz (México), Cully (Suiza), Cultural Market of Salvador de Bahia (Brasil), San Sebastián, San Javier, Terrassa, Madrid, Getxo, Valencia, Girona Barcelona…
As a lead trumpet he has played with many big bands in Spain and in international events. He has performed in New York’s Carneggie Hall, in June 2009 with the Sueño Inmaterial project, conducted by the maestro Joan Albert Amargós and with Laura Simó and Pedro Ruy Blas. ---dottimerecords.com
