This is jazz of such a consistently high level that it seems churlish to offer criticism. The first 1937 tracks are magnificent, the first five sessions as strong in material as they are in performances: "Mean to me", "I'll get by", "How am I to know", and more. These are also among Holiday's greatest records. CD 5 includes the September 1937 sessions which offered the memorable two-part "Just a Mood" quartet with Harry James and Red Norvo. ---Penguin Guide
