The fame of Saint-Germain-des-Prés started to grow in the thirties around its typical brasseries where broke young artists met emerging writers. It quickly became the one-stop destination for all Americans crazy about swing, endless parties and pretty French girls. From now on, Saint-Germain would be chic and welcome the intelligentsia as well as literary publishers. Apartments were bursting out of aspiring artists, cursed poets, and singers full of hope. The atmosphere became more frivolous. Saint-Germain-des-Prés was no longer just a neighborhood, every street would now hold its own identity. --- store.harmoniamundi.com
