A 45-minute set taken from New York's Sweet Basil, Lover Come Back to Me was recorded in 1981 with Connor fronting a piano-bass-drums trio. Connor's voice is warm and dynamic for many of her freewheeling favorites: "It Might as Well Be Spring," "Anyplace I Hang My Hat Is Home," "Get Out of Town." Even "All or Nothing at All" is taken at a brisk tempo, though Connor dims the lights soon after for "Good Morning Heartache." While her voice betrays her several times, Connor had honed her interpretive skills during the decades she'd been performing, and the result is an inviting date of top-flight vocal jazz. --- John Bush, Rovi
