Jeanne Lee (January 29, 1939 – October 25, 2000) was an American jazz singer, poet and composer. Best known for a wide range of vocal styles she mastered, Lee collaborated with numerous distinguished composers and performers which included Gunter Hampel, Ran Blake, Carla Bley, Anthony Braxton, Marion Brown, and many others.

A rather obscure side from Jeanne Lee, and a wonderful one. Lee leads the group through a set of originals and improvisations, with a great searching quality that manifests itself in so little vocal jazz recordings, with an excellent vibe that has a lot in common with some of the material that might have ended up on Strata East or Black Jazz around the same time. The group features Steve McCall, Sam Rivers and Gunter Hampel, as well as Jack Gregg, Perry Robinson and others.
