Sister Rosetta, singer-songwriter-guitarist, was the first superstar of Gospel music and the first to hit the secular charts and airwaves with Chrisitan music. Most of her important early work, extending back to the late 1930's, is represented in this spectacular 4 CD collection. It shows hints of the rocking music of the 1950's that she inspired, through followers like Little Richard (Sister Rosetta was his favorite singer in 1944 when she invited him onstage to sing with her in Macon, Georgia). The mastering reduces the noise floor, so that the old recordings are more enjoyable to listen to.
