Shunsuke "Shun" Kikuta was born in Uts unomiya City, a Tokyo suburb, in 1966. In 1986 Shun moved to Boston and enrolled at the Berklee College of Music where he studied jazz composition, arrangements, and harmonic theory. George Benson, whom Shun credits as having a tremendous influence on him, was guest of honor at Berklee's graduation ceremony in 1990 and presented Shun with his diploma. Shun then moved to Chicago to play the Blues, playing weekly at Rosa's Lounge with the Louis Myers band. Over the years he has produced and collaborated on many blues recordings, in addition to his own leading albums "They call me Shun" (later released as "Me and my guitar" on Bluesox in the USA), "and Chicago Midnight" in 1995 and 96. Still based in Chicago, Shun crosses the globe several times each year touring with Koko Taylor, "The Queen of Blues".
