Louis Myers was one of the most prolific recording session guitar players in the heyday of electric Chicgo Blues during the 1950s and 1960s, a master of tone, technique and taste, never overplaying and never playing an unnecessary note or solo. He and his brother Dave Myers, along with drummer Fred Below, formed the Aces, a crack Chicago unit best known for their work with harmonica genius Little Walter Jacobs. Louis was also a fine harmonica player. On this session, which was his last, Louis was accompanied by the cream of the crop of Chicago players, Bob Stroger on bass and Steve Freund on guitar, both from the Sunnyland Slim Blues Band, John Primer on guitar, Sam Burton from the Otis Rush Band on drums, and Barrelhouse Chuck Goering on piano.

"Myers' harmonic, vocal and and guitar chops richly demonstrate why he is credited with a large role in helping develop shuffle and other uptempo blues." -- Silo Independent Newsletter, earwigmusic.com

Since a serious stroke had largely robbed Myers of his revered ability to play guitar, this effort really isn't indicative of his vast talent. But you've got to give him points for courage -- Myers summoned up the strength to play harp and sing on what would be his final release. A nice Chicago combo that included guitarists Steve Freund and John Primer undoubtedly put Myers's mind at ease. ---Bill Dahl, AllMusic Review
