A Very Special Christmas Live: From Washington, D.C. continues the Very Special Christmas series, which benefits the Special Olympics. This volume was recorded live in Washington, D.C. and features performances by Mary J. Blige, Sheryl Crow, Run-D.M.C., Jon Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Vanessa Williams, and Tracy Chapman. Blige and Crow duet on "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," while Bon Jovi performs two lovelorn holiday songs -- "Please Come Home for Christmas" and "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home." Clapton teams up with Chapman on a version of her hit "Give Me One Reason," and with Crow on "Merry Christmas Baby." Run-D.M.C. performs "Christmas in Hollis," and Vanessa Williams turns in a rendition of "What Child Is This." All the performers appear on the album's final song, "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," representing this benefit album's spirit of goodwill and teamwork. ---Heather Phares, AllMusic Review
