Ever since his debut, Magnus has received praise for both recordings and live performances. Magnus has not only gained attention in Sweden; together with his quartet he has regularly toured Europe with great success. One of his fans, founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival, Claude Nobs, was so impressed with Magnus that he personally invited him to play at his prestigious festival.

Born in Vasteras 1974, Magnus started to play the saxophone at the age of 13. His first big tour was at the age of 18 with the Peter Johannesson Quintet and Herbie Hancock. After studying at the Vasteras Music Gymnasium, he attended the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.Among those that Magnus Lindgren has worked with over the years are Joe Sample, Wilton Felder, Nils Landgren, Herbie Hancock, James Ingram, Koop, Bob Mintzer and Barbara Hendricks.

He released three of his own albums, which all received excellent reviews, and an album with the Jojje Wadenius band, in which he was featured. Magnus won a Grammy and three prestigious jazz prizes.

Magnus Lindgren is also in demand as a composer and arranger. He was commissioned to write for the Nobel Banquet and festivities. Recently Magnus has spent some time in Brazil writing and playing with excellent South American musicians. He has recorded 12 new songs for an album named 'Batucada Jazz’ to be released in the spring of 2009. It features Kiko Continentino on piano, Leonardo Amuendo on guitar, Armando Marcal and Pirulito on percussion with a guest spot by Nils Landgren. This selection is inspired by the samba orchestras that rehearse all year to appear at carnival time.
