1. Rapsodia Latinoamericana

Carlos Chavez Symphony Orchestra
Fernando Lozano – conductor

Manuel Enriquez (Salazar) (1926-1994) was a Mexican composer. He studied at the Juilliard School (1955-7) and became director of the Mexico City Conservatory. From 1960 he used serial and aleatory techniques, mostly in orchestral and instrumental pieces. In the 1960s he held a comparable position to Chávez's of the 1930s, but unlike Chávez he declared nationalism a dead end for Mexican musicians.

He wrote mainly orchestral and chamber music, as well as some film scores and songs. The Rapsodia Latinoamericana (for orchestra) was written in 1987.
