Back to his roots, the latin guitarist plays the blue notes with guts and attitude and with nuclear energy. Our chicano from Chicago comes back, effectively, with a real agressive, punchy and groovy blues/rock. The record is clearly committed against the official political choices of the present american government. Despite two cool latino instrumentals, the album is quite nervous and Tino, citizen of the world, in his lyrics as in his music stays close to the present world events. The rhythm section is as groovy and funky as it could be with Kenny Martin (Defunkt, Jaco Pastorius) playing drums, and Darryl Taylor (Kenny Burrell, Archie Bells) taking care of bass. As a plus, Nico wayne Toussaint brings his harp blues touch and Sjors Nederlof, a young dutch brilliant guitarist, burns the whole house down on the damn first song. ---recordheaven.net
