Long Cold Winter is a transition album for Cinderella, mixing pop-metal tunes with better hooks than those on Night Songs with a newfound penchant for gritty blues-rock ŕ la the Stones or Aerosmith. The ballads -- the grandiose "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)" and the excellent, lower-key "Coming Home" -- are what made the album Cinderella's most commercially successful, but the effective combination of pop hooks and tough, swaggering rock & roll on songs like "Gypsy Road" and "Fallin' Apart at the Seams" prevents the album from becoming simply a vehicle for hit singles and keeps it interesting. Not all of the songs are memorable, but most of them are. --- Steve Huey, AMG

From the very first track ("Bad Seamstress Blues"), it was obvious that Cinderella was moving in a different direction with this album, toward a mix of the pop metal that was their forte with a bluesy inflection reminiscent of Aerosmith. Songs like "Fallin' Apart at the Seams" and "Gypsy Road" showed this influence clearly while making the album more musically interesting than its contemporaries, although the anthemic "The Last Mile" and the hit single "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)" were definite highlights. Added to the mix were ballads like the title track, as well as less grandiose tunes such as "Coming Home." Cinderella's Rocked, Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits is intended to replace the 1997 compilation Once Upon A ... as a full-length, single-disc retrospective on the group. Like Once Upon A ..., it contains all eight of Cinderella's Billboard Hot 100 hits and 11 of its 12 entries in Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. (In both cases, the exception is "Bad Attitude Shuffle.") But the newer collection adds the album tracks "Night Songs" from the debut album of the same name; "Bad Seamstress Blues/Fallin' Apart at the Seams," "Long Cold Winter," and "If You Don't Like It," from the second album, Long Cold Winter, and "Winds of Change" from the third album, Heartbreak Station. And instead of including "Through the Rain" from the disappointing fourth album, Still Climbing, it chooses "Blood From a Stone." The rarities "War Stories" and "Move Over" are also missing, along with "Love's Got Me Doin' Time" from Heartbreak Station. In total, Rocked, Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits is two tracks and ten minutes longer than Once Upon A ... and is a marginal improvement over its predecessor. But fans who already own the earlier compilation don't have much reason to plump for the newer one. --- William Ruhlmann, AMG

Arguably, the best of the '80's Metal Bands. Never could figure out why they where so underrated, they had an amazing lead singer in Tom Keifer (What couldn't the man do.) and that Polygram did nothing for them. They had the talent to be another band that stays around like Aerosmith, just keeps you rockin' and begging for more.

With the Rocked, Wired and Bluesed greatest hits package. Their older fans already have these songs, it offers nothing new and only get these songs digital enhansed with the new technology. With no new goodies on this one, I just burned my own copy from their original releases and made a second disc (see track list below). Another draw back to this release it covers their early career well and leaves off too many good tracks from Heartbreak Station and Still Climbing. Now if your picking up this release as your first Cinderella album you will love this 17 song collection of their best hits. Also realize there's a bunch of tracks missing from this release, that should be on it. You definately will want to pickup all their releases, because they are that good of a band. --- S. The more things change, the more material which arrives from the members of Cinderella. The rock group released their new live album ‘Stripped’ on May 16th via Collectors Dream Records, marking the band’s first live effort since 2011’s ‘Caught in the Act.’

While it may not have been the announcement Cinderella fans have been patiently waiting for since the group’s previous studio album ‘Still Climbing’ was released nearly twenty years ago, this release should be enough to satiate the appetite of familiar listeners for new material.

The album is comprised solely of archival recordings which were captured throughout Cinderella’s two night residency at the Key Club in Los Angeles, California, on October 2nd and 3rd. The recordings made their debut appearance on the band’s 2001 live effort ‘Live at the Key Club,’ having since reappeared on multiple reissues throughout the past decade.

In our exclusive interview with lead vocalist Tom Keifer last August, the frontman briefly discussed the possibility of a new Cinderella studio album in the future: “Well, you know, the idea of a new Cinderella album, or there not being one, it’s not for any lack of desire on our part.

“And we never say never, it’s just about the right opportunity presenting itself, where we can go in and have the backing of a label, where we can go and make a quality record with a great producer and be able to do it right. We thought we had that opportunity, and that’s the deal that turned into that lawsuit, and that’s from many years ago.”

Keifer went on to say that “If the right opportunity presents itself to make a record, we would definitely do it. There’s just been a lot of things in the way, you know? Starting with that record deal that went south, and I’ve had vocal issues. There’s been a lot of great tours that we’ve done, so that’s kept us busy, too. It’s hard to focus on a record when you’re touring a lot. So, there’s the potential there, we’ve just got to have the right opportunity.” --- William Clark, musicenthusiastmag.com
