Rammstein was started by Richard Z. Kruspe-Bernstein. In 1989 he escaped from East Germany over the border between Austria and Hungary. He eventually ended up in West Berlin and started a band in 1993 (Orgasm Death Gimmicks). At that time he was very influenced by American music. After the wall came down, he moved back home to Schwerin where Till Lindemann (the singer of Rammstein) worked as a basket weaver and played drums in the band First Arsch.

At this time, Richard lived with Oliver Riedel (of the band The Inchtabokatables) and Christoph Doom Schneider (of Die Firma). Richard realized that the music he had previously made was not right for him. He envisioned something with machines and hard guitars together. The three started working together on a new project.

Richard soon found it hard to write music and lyrics at the same time. He got Till to join them as he had often heard him singing while working. A contest for new bands was announced and the prize was studio time. The four of them recorded the first Rammstein demo and won. Paul Landers knew them all and wanted to know what they were doing. After listening, he agreed to join. At this point, all they needed for the machine-sound was a keyboarder. They tried to get Christian ‘Flake’ Lorenz to join, as he had played with Paul before in the band Feeling B. Flake was not entirely thrilled with the idea at first and didn’t want to join for a long time. But, he eventually agreed.

About the time the band was formed, they all had relationship problems which provided the foundation for their debut album Herzeleid (Heartache) in 1995. Since then, they have reached gold and platinum status for their music and have become Germany’s number one music export.

They took their name (adding an ‘m’) from the location of a German tragedy where 80 people were hurt and killed as the result of a crash during an American Air Force flight show. The literal translation of ‘ram stein’ is a battering ram made of stone. ---affenknecht.com/rammstein-biography/

Rammstein is a very unique band, which music has been described acquainted with so many different musical styles that it's impossible to associate their sound with something else than the name of the band itself. Using a lot of keyboards, a repetitive and obsessing rhythm perfectly conducted by the drummer and the repetitive lyrics in the mouth of their great singer. Rammstein is also one of the only German band using their native language for the lyrics and their short-lived attempt to make English versions was a call for them to continue with their smart choice. Of course, with the barrier of the language and the ambient stupidity of some listeners, the band has been and is still falsely accused of neo-nazism propaganda and other handmade stories. These theories have been widely spread also due to the complexity and weirdness of their lyrics, most of the time referring to very dark themes such as pain and suffering. As it's the case on their debut album entitled "Herzeleid".

The hypnotic power of Till's voice enhances a lot of compositions on this album while the keyboard lines add a feeling of uneasiness close to dementia to the music. Standards of the band such as 'Weisses Fleisch', 'Rammstein', 'Heirate Mich' and 'Du Riechst So Gut' are pure jewels and blend altogether with the ballad 'Seemann' into a powerful and majestic album.

The production is clearly less enjoyable than on their second album "Sehnsucht", but it's almost a detail seeing the great quality of the songs. Also, the broad use of keyboard lines totally turns "Herzeleid" into a must-have for people in quest for dark ambient metal. Some choruses will haunt you forever and there is no denial that "Herzeleid" is obviously a rare thing, as both a debut album and a masterpiece.

Powerful, mechanical, dark, hypnotic and insane, "Herzeleid" is altogether a different style of music and it can scarcely be criticized due to huge amounts of talent, innovation and creativity invested in this album. Retrospectively, amongst "Herzeleid", "Sehnsucht" and "Mutter", my pick would be this one as the usual rawness of debut albums has forgotten to show up on "Herzeleid". A majestic first effort for a no less majestic band, this masterpiece deserves a special place in your CD collection. ---Dream Taster, metalstorm.net

Der 24. September 1995 sollte für deutschsprachigen Metal richtungsweisend werden, wobei RAMMSTEIN’s Debüt-Album „Herzeleid“ zunächst nicht den Erfolg ernten konnte, den sich die Band sicherlich gewünscht hatte. Erst etwas über ein Jahr später, als David Lynch’s „Lost Highway“ in die Kinos kam und der begleitende Soundtrack zwei Titel („Heirate Mich“ und „Rammstein“) der Band promotete, schlug das Album Wellen und bereitete den Weg zum Erfolg, den das Zweitwerk „Sehnsucht“ kurze Zeit später mit dem weltweit abgefeierten Hit „Engel“ besiegelte.

„Herzeleid“ klingt im Vergleich zu späteren technisch versierteren Alben der Band völlig roh und ungezähmt. In martialischer Art und Weise werden tanzbare Elektronikrhytmen, Samples und brachiales, simples Gitarrenwerk zusammengebracht, was in dieser Form von RAMMSTEIN später nie wieder zu hören war. Dies liegt zum Einen sicherlich am Publikum, das durch Einwirkung des eigenen (a)sozialen Umfelds, der Medienberichterstattung und Filmen wie „Saw“ und „Hostel“ zum Beispiel immer abgestumpfter wird, zum Anderen aber auch an der Band selbst, die sich durch „Engel“ eine unlösbare Bürde auferlegt hat, weiterhin trotz versuchter Provokation und riff-orientierten Stromgitarren möglichst massenkompatibel zu klingen. Dies äussert sich nicht nur in den musikalischen Ergüssen, die nach „Sehnsucht“ immer handzahmer wurden und in „Reise, Reise“ ihren bisherigen Tiefpunkt erreichten, sondern auch in den Texten, die sich zwar nach wie vor ins Gerede bringen (wollen), doch häufig einfach zu platt sind, (mittlerweile) schlichtweg langweilen („Keine Lust“) oder sogar einfach nur noch lächerlich sind („Te Quiero Puta“).

„Herzeleid“ ist ein völlig genialer Erstling und für mich persönlich das beste RAMMSTEIN Album, auf dem Songs wie „Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flammen Sehen“, „Der Meister“, „Du Riechst So Gut“, „Weisses Fleisch“ und „Heirate Mich“ eine ungewöhnliche, einzigartige Mischung aus schaurig-schöner Gruselromantik und derben Fantasien mit messerscharfen Riffs, monolithischen Songstrukturen und düster-debilem Gesang bildet, die es (jedesmal wieder) zustandebringt, die Nackenhaare aufzurichten um in einem Wirbel aus Grausamkeit und Absurditäten zu versinken: „Der Wahnsinn ist nur eine schmale Brücke, die Ufer sind Vernunft und Trieb…“ ---metal.de

Coś mi się zdaje, że mało który fan Rammsteina zaczął właśnie od tej płyty. Ogromny sukces albumu "Sehnsucht", a przede wszystkim wspaniała muzyka na nim zawarta na pewno skusiła wielu, w tym mnie do wysłuchania jego poprzednika.

A jest się czym nacieszyć. Przede wszystkim, mimo podobieństw, można te dwie płyty rozpatrywać oddzielnie. "Herzeleid" jest mniej perfekcyjnie wyprodukowany, gitary są bliższe ich naturalnemu brzmieniu, nieco przybrudzone, nie tak sterylne jak na "Sehnsucht", wyraźnie słyszalna jest gitara basowa. To muzyka mniej wypieszczona, w kilku momentach można mieć skojarzenia z Nine Inch Nails i to skojarzenia całkiem wyraźne.

Poza tym to ten sam Rammstein, którego znamy z albumu "Sehnsucht". Podobnie trudno jest wyróżnić któryś z utworów, jednak perełki oczywiście są. Na pierwszym miejscu stawiam otwierający płytę "Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flamen Sehen" utrzymany w tempie nieco przyspieszonego niemieckiego marsza (wiem, że sporą ilość osób to właśnie w ich muzyce drażni), zachwycają również odgrzane niedawno "Asche Zu Asche", "Du Riechst So Gut" oraz sztandarowy "Rammstein". Bardzo ciekawie wypada "Der Meister", w którym w tle dla szalejących gitar słychać w refrenach wesolutkie klawiszowe melodyjki.

Tak więc czekajmy na nowy album Rammsteina i cieszmy się z tego co jest. Widziałem w telewizji obszerne fragmenty koncertu grupy, który właśnie został niedawno wydany. Powiem Wam na razie tylko tyle: to co widziałem jest REWELACYJNE! ---RaMoNe, rockmetal.pl

What is there not to love about Rammstein? Since 1994, this twelve-legged Teutonic rock beast has ridden roughshod over the European charts with their unique blend of gargantuan riffing, industrial grind and dark humour. That's not to mention their dizzyingly ridiculous live shows where fire, urine and surfing across the audience in military issue inflatable boats augments their sonic assault. Yet while they've acquired a sizeable cult following in the UK, for some reason they’ve failed to cross over. One suspects it’s in part Germanophobia, or the Anglo-Saxon distaste for the dark and industrial. Whatever, could Liebe Ist Für Alle Da be the record that breaks down the barricades?

As a statement of intent, you couldn’t do much better than Rammlied, which opens with choral voices that are suddenly subsumed by gargantuan slabs of guitar and a double syllable-emphasised “Ramm-stein”, uttered by Beelzebub with halitosis – it's a significant step forward from last album, Rosenrot. Rammstein are no strangers to high- and low-concept arch pranksterism to make a point, and while the pornographic video to Pussy might distract from the fact that it's the weakest track on the album, there's something curiously playful and subversive about everything Rammstein do. And this lack of respect for boundaries is not merely evident in their cheap deployment of naked flesh.

There's the multi-lingual lyricism, for starters (German, English and French), and the appropriation of US metal or overwrought European traditional song (especially on Frühling in Paris). Over all this are Till Lindemann's vocals, which range from bark to croon to emotive whine. That's the overall picture, within which songs are juxtaposed to delicious ends. So where Waidmanns Heil begins with exultant horns, Haifisch features a jaunty synth that's straight out of Violator-era Depeche Mode. The crooning Frühling crops up shortly later, only to be crushed by the guttural Wiener Blut and the rock widdling-meets-prog of the title track.

Rock is at its best when confrontational, subversive, curiously camp and bold, which is why Rammstein are currently one of the most important bands in the genre. Liebe Ist Für Alle Da is a beautiful, preposterous, ambitious record that makes the likes of Muse appear as hapless amateurs doodling on school scrapbooks, and the American metal aristocracy, unimaginative boors. More importantly, and most interesting of all, it's arguably the most ‘European’ record you're likely to hear all year. And who wouldn't wave a flag to that? ---Luke Turner, BBC Review

Rammstein is a powerful German dance/industrio-metal music band. They describe themselves as "tanzmetal", meaning dance/metal. This is very true, but a little misleading. Since dance is only a small element of their work.

Rammstein was formed in 1993 by an assembly of factory-weary proletarians raised in East Germany. They took their name (adding an "m") from the location of a German tragedy where 80 people were hurt and killed as the result of a crash during an American Air Force flight show. The literal translation of "ram stein" is a battering ram made of stone.

Word of Rammstein's horror romanticist blend of theatre and music spread like wildfire. Till Lindemann would sing entire songs engulfed in flame from head to toe. The band's first album, Herzeleid (or Heartache), built on the grounds created by the band's live reputation. Scaling the German charts (and remaining there until the release of the second Rammstein LP some two years later), the album also introduced the band to the world outside of the Germany/Switzerland/Austria region. As Rammstein's second album, Sehnsucht (Longing), was released, the band was headlining throughout Europe to crowds of 10,000 to 30,000 people. Sehnsucht entered the German charts at number one immediately upon its release, and came very close to doing to the same in Austria and Switzerland.

Within weeks, entries on other countries' charts had Sehnsucht rubbing elbows with Prodigy, Radiohead, and the Rolling Stones on Billboard's cumulative Eurochart. On December 11, 2010, Rammstein played their first show in America since 2001. It turned out we missed them, as the band sold out the hallowed Madison Square Garden in only 20 minutes. The concert, not surprisingly, is the captured in all its glory of one of the two DVDs on the set In Amerika that was released last week, but it’s the journey that got them there that’s really the focal point. The two-hour In Amerika documentary isn’t just a story about the band’s introduction and ultimate triumph in the United States, but also one of the fall of the Berlin Wall and of six like-minded individuals becoming a global phenomenon.

The fact that Rammstein exists at all is due to guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe escaping communist East Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall. In Amerika shows the genesis of the band via their previous acts, Orgasm Death Gimmick and Feeling B. Both bands, obsessed with the mythology of America, traveled there separately before uniting in Rammstein. After gaining some success in the mother land, we hear from the band’s at first skeptical booking agent, label rep and a band they played with (Hanzel und Gretyl) at their first American show, in 1997 at the now-defunct NYC goth club The Bank. Seeing the band’s stage show at a subsequent show convinces the initial naysayers that the music and their pyro-filled stage show transcends the fact that they sing entirely in German.

Of course, rest is history. “Du Hast” takes off the following year when their second album, Sehnsucht, is released, and the band find themselves on the Family Values tour alongside Korn and Limp Bizkit. This is a great part of the documentary, as the six band members, who barely know any English, find themselves thrust into a tour where they’re really just happy to be able to eat Hungry Man dinners on their first-ever tour bus. The documentary shows some hardships along the way, such as when frontman Till Lindemann and keyboardist Flake Lorenz are arrested for indecency in Worcester MA after a performance of “Buck Dich” that pantomimed sodomy. But it’s not long before they’re touring with KISS in South America, appearing in films like XXX and Lost Highway and getting props from celebrities ranging from Keifer Sutherland and Iggy Pop to Taylor Momsen and Steven Tyler (among the many who appear in the documentary).

Of course the documentary culminates in their triumphant return to America in 2010 at the Garden. There’s really only one big question that isn’t specifically answered: why didn’t they play the States for almost a decade? September 11th is mentioned, with the band stating that they felt attitudes in America had changed. Well yeah, they had, but not because of six Germans. It also mentions that the bigger the band got, the less they communicated with each other, especially while touring in the States. But instead of delving into their American absence and why it happened, it talks about how they retained and perhaps increased their popularity in the States by staying away for so long. There are probably some logistical reasons, like the Station nightclub tragedy resulting in more stringent regulations on pyrotechnics, but that’s not addressed. Regardless, the two-our documentary is a highly entertaining look at the humble beginnings and eventual global rise of one of industrial metal’s biggest bands, and perhaps the only band to have an all-German album ever go platinum in the United States. ---Bram Teitelman, metalinsider.net

Back in 1996, Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor introduced German band Rammstein to the unsuspecting general public of the United States. Reznor, who was selecting music for the David Lynch film Lost Highway, chose the songs "Heirate Mich" and "Rammstein" for the soundtrack. While some underground club goers had been familiar with the Neue Deutsche Härte or New German Hardness style, a subgenre to Industrial Metal, it hit Middle America right between the eyes. Adding fuel to the flames, Rammstein released its world-wide breakthough CD, Sehnsucht, featuring the Top 20 single “Du Hast.”

Within two years, the band — lead vocalist Till Lindemann, lead guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe, rhythm guitarist Paul H. Landers, bassist Oliver “Ollie Riedel,” drummer Christoph “Doom” Schneider and keyboardist/sampler Christian “Flake” Lorenz — was touring the U.S., opening for fellow industrialists KMFDM.

Tours with Danzig and Nina Hagen followed, and Rammstein solidified itself as an exciting, suggestive and pyrotechnic-friendly draw. When the band found itself on the 1998 Family Values tour, featuring Korn, Limp Bizkit and Ice Cube, Sehnsucht went gold, selling more than 500,000 copies in the U.S. alone.

Now, some 14 years later, Rammstein is on the brink of releasing a career retrospective, Made in Germany 1995–2011, that will be distributed by Vagrant Records on December 13. While the 16-track CD is filled with militant-flavored, German-sung marchers such as “Du Hast,” “Haifisch” and the band's debut single, “Du Reichst So Gut,” it also features the wry English-sung “Pussy,” the social commentary of the fist-pumping “Amerika” and the driving new single “Mein Land.”

Every song is framed by the band's chugging guitars, four-on-the-floor bass and drums and colorful samples or keys that has a tendency to sound the same, but when Lindermann's authoritarian and impassioned delivery begins, listeners can't help but stop to hear what he says, even if they don't understand a word. While all the songs have their own ear-grabbing textures, thanks to the clean remastering, the theatrically dynamic “Ohne Dich” takes the listener by surprise with its acoustic guitar highlights and deep Bonham-inspired drum delivery.

Made in Germany will be released in three editions — the standard, which features only a single disc, and the Special and Super Deluxe editions that will include a bonus disc of remixes. The sound-byte-centric “Du Reichst So Gut '98,” remixed by Faith No More, the Pet Shop Boys remix of “Mein Teil,” Devin Townsend's remix of “Rammlied” and the Johan Edlund remix of Rammstein's cover of Depeche Mode's “Stripped” are among the bonus-disc track list. --- Scott Iwasaki, guitarworld.com

"Made in Germany 1995-2011" dobrze obrazuje jednocześnie dwa zjawiska: po pierwsze, dlaczego Rammstein stał się jedną z największych światowych gwiazd współczesnego rocka oraz, po drugie, dlaczego w pewnym momencie ich twórczość stała się zdecydowanie mniej poruszająca niż to wcześniej bywało. Elementy kompozycji Niemców pozostają mniej więcej te same, wielką różnicę zrobiło jednak przesunięcie akcentów. Patos i chwytliwe melodie, zawsze obecne w refrenach, zaczęły dominować nad całością kompozycji, rozmiękczając i przesładzając twórczość zespołu. Widać to jak na dłoni, gdy zestawimy na przykład "Links 2-3-4", czy nawet "Mein Teil" z niemiłosiernie plastikową "Pussy", nieznośnie patetycznym "Ohne dich", czy bezpłciowym "Haifisch", którego miejsce jest na śmietniku. Nic dziwnego, że na recenzowanym wydawnictwie kapela postanowiła pozostać w bezpiecznym, środkowym okresie twórczości.

Papierkiem lakmusowym obecnej formy ekipy pozostaje więc premierowy "Mein Land". To utwór będący od pierwszej do ostatniej sekundy autoplagiatem, albo - inaczej - klasycznym wypiekiem z huty stali Rammstein. Szybsze tempo, typowe opatentowane przez Niemców riffy w zwrotkach, podniosła przedostatnia część kawałka, a nawet zgrabne orientalizmy (może dlatego zabrakło tu "Sehnsucht"). Efekt? Co najmniej zadowalający. Niby nic wielkiego, ale kawałka słucha się świetnie, choć głowy nie dam, że podobną formę Niemcy utrzymają w przyszłości. "Made in Germany 1995-2011" to niezła składanka, z zachowanym elementem ’poznawczym’, która jednak, jak to zazwyczaj bywa, trafi pewnie przede wszystkim do otrzaskanych w twórczości formacji fanów-kolekcjonerów. ---Szymon Kubicki, magazyngitarzysta.pl

Rammstein's second album, SEHNSUCHT, finds the German prog metal band making a great leap forward. While the group still sounds a little unfocused in places, their blend of industrial noise, grinding metal guitars, and operatic vocals is staggeringly powerful. No other European metal band sounds like Rammstein, nor does any American metal group -- this is powerful, gothic metal that is unlike anything else in late-'90s metal. Bereits mit ihrem Debüt „Herzeleid“ konnten RAMMSTEIN nicht nur eine Duftmarke, sondern einen echten Trend setzen: Neue Deutsche Härte. Zwei Jahre später nun gilt es, den Schwung mitzunehmen und aus RAMMSTEIN eine Marke zu machen. Wie aus heutiger Sicht allseits bekannt, ist den Berlinern das mit ihrem zweiten Werk, „Sehnsucht“, vortrefflich gelungen.

Den Grundstein zum Erfolg legte dabei das schon damals stimmige Gesamtkonzept hinter der Band: Vom Cover mit seinen sechs Varianten ausgehend, über das auch diesmal konsequent weitergeführte Konzept gezielter Provokation in den Texten bis hin zur Musik, die auf „Sehnsucht“ weitaus vielschichtiger ausfällt als noch auf dem bisweilen recht stumpfen Debüt. So lassen RAMMSTEIN mit Stücken wie „Engel“, „Klavier“ oder „Alter Mann“ auf „Sehnsucht“ neben den vom Debüt her bekannten Brachial-Riffs zum ersten Mal auch sanfte Töne hören. Dass Till Lindemann zugleich mit Nummern wie „Bestrafe mich“, „Tier“ oder „Bück Dich“ textlich härteren Tobak parat hält als auf dem diesbezüglich vergleichsweise harmlosen Debüt, geht bei so viel Romantik und Melancholie fast unter. Und genau diese Zweischneidigkeit ist es, die RAMMSTEINs „Sehnsucht“ so erfolgreich macht – am Ende ist nämlich doch für jeden was dabei: Während der eröffnende Titeltrack den RAMMSTEIN-Fan der ersten Stunde direkt bei „Herzeleid“ abholt und „Alter Mann“ allen Kritikern beweist, dass Till Lindemann durchaus auch zu Texten mit Tiefgang fähig ist, erobert die Hitsingle „Engel“ quasi im Alleingang den Mainstream im Sturm. Allen stilistischen Unterschieden zum Trotz gelingt es RAMMSTEIN, „Sehnsucht“ als Einheit auftreten zu lassen: Die Keyboardlastigkeit, der transparente Sound und nicht zuletzt die düstere Atmosphäre kreieren ein starkes Band, das die elf Nummern zusammenhält. Dass das Album nicht nur Hits aufweist, ist in diesem Kontext ebenso verkraftbar wie die Tatsache, dass auch Lindemanns Gesang (noch) nicht vollends zu überzeugen vermag – auch darüber täuschen die Gesamtstimmung wie auch einzelne Highlights leicht hinweg.

„Sehnsucht“ ist, um eine abgedroschene Kritiker-Phrase zu nutzen, noch nicht das Album, das zu schreiben RAMMSTEIN imstande sind. Trotzdem ist die CD mit ihren unzähligen Hits, die auch jetzt noch in keinem RAMMSTEIN-Set fehlen dürfen, bereits 1997 mehr als ein Indiz auf das unglaubliche Potential dieser Band. --- Moritz Grütz, metal1.info

O Rammsteinie chyba każdy słyszał. Skoro ja słyszałem. Zetknąłem się z nim oglądając Vivę. Tak, przyznaję się bez bicia, czasami oglądam. Generalnie nie przepadam za nią, albowiem powoduje u mnie bezwarunkowe zwężanie i rozszerzanie źrenic, a to za sprawą ogromu teledysków techno. Ale czasem oglądam. Od czasu do czasu można coś trafić, jak na loterii. Zobaczyłem teledysk "Du hast" i wiedziałem, że prędzej, czy później znajdzie się on w mojej prywatnej kolekcji muzycznej. Numer człowiek-pochodnia po prostu powalił mnie na kolana. I w końcu kupiłem. Obdarcie pudełka z folii przebiegło podejrzanie szybko i bezproblemowo. Czyżby Los spojrzał na mnie łaskawszym okiem? Na mnie? Na człowieka, na którego sygnalizacja świetlna na różnego rodzaju skrzyżowaniach reaguje, z perfidią godną zdradzonej kochanki, zmianą zielonego na czerwone, akurat w chwili, gdy podchodzę do przejścia? Złośliwość rzeczy martwych to moje przekleństwo. Podejrzewałem podstęp. O bogowie!!! Hologram! Nie znajduje się tak, jak zazwyczaj na środku okładki, ani nie zasłania spisu utworów. Jest prawie niewidoczny, znajduje się z tyłu i NICZEGO nie zasłania! Błogosławiony niech będzie ten, który sprzedał mi tę kasetę. W środku naprawdę porządna, mająca chyba ze dwie wiorsty wkładka. Z jednej strony prezentująca teksty wszystkich utworów na tle jakiejś plaży (eeehhh... wakacje...), z drugiej umęczone, uduchowione twarze członków zespołu, przywodzące na myśl kluby dla sadomasochistów, względnie dokonania współczesnych artystów, ewentualnie trofea z polowania, czy oblicza świętych. W każdym razie pokochałem tę wkładkę.

Zabieram się do słuchania. Walkman jest, baterie na miejscu, słuchawki są, zapas lizaków i pluszowy miś w pogotowiu. Na początek mały szok. Wokalista zespołu mówi po polsku. Ble... ble... ble. Dość poprawnie. Miły akcent. Nie wiem dlaczego, ale przeważnie pierwsza strona robi na mnie lepsze wrażenie. Tym razem było tak samo. Nie mówię, że druga jest beznadziejna, czy zła, ale pierwsza jest lepsza. Album zaczyna bardzo dobry "Sehnsucht". Od razu można zauważyć charakterystyczne, ciągnące się przez cały album brzmienie gitar i charakterystyczny wokal oraz komputerowe coś tam. Później całkiem niezły "Engel", do którego nakręcony został teledysk. Może ktoś pamięta? Dzieciaki w klatce, taniec z wężem i dość specyficzny sposób picia alkoholu. Następny jest "Tier", kawałek który nieomal pozbawił mnie zmysłów. (Was tust du? Was fühlst du? Was bist du? doch nur ein Tier). Przez pięć minut dochodzę do siebie. Potem dobry "Bestrafe mich". I w końcu utwór, dla którego kupiłem ten album, czyli "Du hast". "Willst du bist der tod euch scheide treu ihr sein für alle tage". Trochę ubogi w słowa, ale za każdym razem mnie powala. Może nie aż tak, jak "A Moment Of Clarity" Therapy?, ale zawsze coś. Później bardzo dobry "Bück dich", z kapitalnym jak dla mnie riffem. (Dein Gesicht ist mir egal). Drugą stronę rozpoczyna rewelacyjne, wolne "Spiel mit mir". (Gib mir deine Hand und spiel mit mir). Przyprawia o dreszcze rozkoszy. Później dobre "Klavier" i dobre "Alter mann". Całkiem niezłe "Eifersucht". I kończące płytę raczej średnie, jeśli nie słabe "Küss mich (Fellfrosch)".

Ogólnie płyta wypada bardzo dobrze, jeśli nie rzec, że rewelacyjnie. Zawsze miałem mieszane uczucia co do industrialu. Od niekorzystnych po usłyszeniu Prophecy z utworem Kata "Diabelski dom cz.II" na "Czarne Zastępy - W hołdzie Kat" (jeśli ktoś chce się pośmiać to polecam), aż po pozytywne przy słuchaniu ścieżki dźwiękowej do "Quake'a 2", względnie ocierającego się o industrial rewelacyjnego "Passage" Samaela. Zdaję sobie sprawę, że większość metalowej braci reaguje na hasło "industrial" podwyższeniem poziomu adrenaliny i zgrzytaniem zębów, albowiem od industialu bardzo blisko do techno. Ale naprawdę warto posłuchać tego albumu. Najlepsze kawałki na płycie to "Du hast", "Tier" i "Spiel mit mir". Po prostu trzeba je usłyszeć. Według mnie tak powinien wyglądać rasowy industrial. Rammstein to kapitalne gitary, łatwo wpadające w ucho riffy i bezbłędny wokal oraz komputerowe efekty. Jeszcze gdybym wiedział, co oni tam szwargoczą, byłbym w ósmym niebie... a może dziewiątym?... albo siódmym? ---xMad, rockmetal.pl
