Through the years Richie Kotzen has definitely grown as a musician as well as a performer, and we’re happy to see his latest album “24 Hours” marching in the same direction towards brilliance. There’s no denying the pure mastery and foresight with which this musically versatile record is tamed. And it sure is one of Richie’s most inspired statements to date. An energy bursting cocktail of hard rock, blues, soul and funk, smoothed out with unbelievable cohesiveness. Truly, Richie rarely sounded better than this.

Apart from his talent as a guitar player that we all know has been there for some time now, the most desirable ingredients of the Richie Kotzen cuisine are to be found in his vocal delivery, charged with oozing charisma, almost exclusively shaped by extreme passion. This is the Richie Kotzen that many failed to discover, knowing him only for his stints with Poison and Mr. Big. Well, that's a great shame on their part since Richie’s singing characteristics are at least equally impressive as his guitar playing.

And yes, the song writing here is par excellence! Starting with the title number, the words first class funkadelic stormtrooper come bursting through the doors. “Help Me” quickly follows suit, clearly splashing energy and attitude to burn. “Get It On” reads as another funky punch directly in the teeth, craftily underlined by muscular riffing and topped by almost Glenn Hughes like vocals. If that isn’t enough to delight you, then the inclusion of “Bad Situation” to the ever growing list of impenetrable creations will definitely leave you smiling in recapturing the pure delight of rediscovering your balls' primary use. Not to mention that there is some serious funk rock fun to be gleaned from the silky groove of “OMG (What’s Your Name?)”.

Indeed, Kotzen does back off this fiery style of his on many occasions. It’s amazing how effortlessly all the fuss suddenly rises on the man’s exquisite vocal delivery. Moments like “Tell Me That It’s Easy”, “I Don’t Know Why” and “Twist of Fate” are soul filled treasures. The former bares remarkable resemblance to Rod Stewart in his best Faces days! Seriously - it sounds so good! In this much heated environment only “Stop Me” falls out as the consummate Richie Kotzen pop song.

As for the final verdict, “24 Hours” is a stunning experience, an inspired testimony of skill, character and emotion. With no misfires present, except for the albums short length (it grabs us for a mere 42 minutes), this comes remarkably close to being the best thing Richie Kotzen has ever put out. --- Daniel Pavlica, therocktologist.com

Influenced by American soul legends like Otis Redding, Al Green, Sam And Dave, and Curtis Mayfield, Wilson Hawk reinterprets American Classic Soul and R&B in an era where this genre of music seems to have been forgotten. When asked where the inspiration for this recording came from singer and primary song writer Richie Kotzen says " This is a record I have always wanted to make. Growing up just outside Philadelphia I was exposed to a lot of 'real' soul music. Bands like The Spinners, The O'Jays and even early Hall and Oats influenced my writing during my developmental years as an artist. One night over dinner my long term producer friend Richie Zito (Elton John, Joe Cocker, Cheap Trick) reminded me that I never really made a record that came from these roots. From that meeting, the two of us started getting together religiously every week writing music for what would become Wilson Hawk." The beauty of this Richie & Richie collaboration is that from the first track it immediately becomes clear that the only motivation behind this recording was one hundred percent soul stirring inspiration. Songs like I Promise I Will, Beautiful Life, Everything Good, and the Road appear destined to become Soul Classics. Fans of inspired music performed by inspired musicians will find "Wilson Hawk' at the top of their playlists for a very long time. ---cdbaby.com

I’m Coming Out - 2011 compilation of 16 tracks from his first four Japan only solo albums. These albums have been officially released only in Japan.

Richie Kotzen (born February 3, 1970 in Reading, Pennsylvania) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter.

At a young age, Richie Kotzen was taken by music and first began playing piano at the age of five. At the age of seven he was inspired by the band KISS to learn the electric guitar. Relentlessly developing chops and his own unique voice on the guitar, he started his career in a band named Arthurs Museum. Kotzen was eventually discovered by Shrapnel Records' Mike Varney, and he recorded his first solo album by the age of 19. He created the video Rock Chops for REH video in 1989, highlighting many of his formative techniques, including using wide-intervals and fluid sweeping.

In 1991, Kotzen made his big break when he joined the rock band Poison at age 21, co-writing and performing on the album Native Tongue. This album produced two top twenty singles which Richie co-wrote, "Stand" and "Until You Suffer Some (Fire & Ice)". In late-1993, Rikki Rockett, the drummer of Poison, discovered that Kotzen was having a relationship with Rockett's former fiancee, Deanna Eve. Kotzen was bought out due to this incident. In 1999 Kotzen replaced Paul Gilbert as guitarist in the mainstream rock band Mr. Big. Kotzen maintained the band's success, performing on the Mr. Big record Get Over It, which sold more than 175,000 copies in its first two weeks in Japan, eventually reaching platinum status.[citation needed] Kotzen also contributed guitars to Mr. Big's subsequent release Actual Size. The record included the Kotzen song Shine, which debuted at number one on Japanese radio charts. Following the disbanding of Mr. Big, Kotzen released the solo album Change, in 2003. The title track, and the song Get A Life were featured in TV commercials throughout Japan.

In 2002 Kotzen bought a commercial building in Los Angeles and established a recording Studio/Production company. He has since been producing acclaimed solo albums and collaborating with various figures in rock (Gene Simmons), jazz, and fusion including jazz legend Stanley Clarke. In mid-2006 Kotzen was the opening act in Japan for The Rolling Stones on their Bigger Bang tour.
