Trio Mocotó are mostly known for being Jorge Ben's backing band at the peak of his career, during the early '70s. They shaped what has been called samba rock sound, resulting in the fusion of Brazilian sounds and American pop-rock. After forming in Sao Paulo's Jogral nightclub, where Fritz Escovão, Joãozinho Parahyba and Nereu Gargalo would work as regular backing musicians for the featured artists, Jorge Ben recruited Trio Mocotó for his own band. They took part in the recording of Ben's self-titled LP from 1969 along with Força Bruta (1970) and Negro É Lindo (1971). Their first solo album, Muita Zorra! (...São Coisas Que Glorificam A Sensibilidade Atual), came out in 1971 and hit the charts with the single "Coqueiro Verde", opening a very busy period in their career. Their second, and self-titled, album was released by RGE in 1973 and is a perfect mix of dancefloor-oriented samba percussion, funky guitars and Brazilian pop with a soulful twist. The opening track, "Desapareça, Vá, Desapareça" is a killer tune and the perfect introduction to the vibe of the entire album, mixing samba and funk like no others had done at the time. "Swinga Sambaby" would also be an obvious choice for those into party tunes, making the album sparkle with a fierce combination of irresistible rhythms and deep vocals. There is even a jazzy touch in here, just listen to "Palomares" or "Tô Por Fora Da Jogada" and enjoy dreaming of the golden sand of the Brazilian beaches. ---forcedexposure.com

download (mp3 @320 kbs):

yandex mediafire ulozto gett bayfiles

back

Trio Mocotó - Trio Mocotó (1973/2016)

<img src="http://www.theblues-thatjazz.com/ObrMuz/Latin/TrioMocoto/trio.jpg" border="0" alt="Image could not be displayed. The production is a bit too slick, but the musicians are tight and the energy spirited. Even when things get to be a bit too poppy, the disc is too lively to cast aside; it never takes itself too seriously, acting as a worldly diversion from what ails thee. ---Velanche Stewart, xlr8r.com

Trio Mocotó got their start as a backing band for Jorge Ben in the 1960s, and are generally credited with inventing the hugely popular "samba rock" sound that developed over the course of the following decade. Beleza! Beleza!! Beleza!!! is their second album since getting back together in 2001, and finds original members João Parahyba and Nereu Gargalo joined by singer and guitarist Skowa. The resulting sound is an effervescent combination of new and old, with new versions of songs from the group's old book and guest appearances by such current stars as Zuco 103 and Apollo 9. You'll be hard-pressed to find a single track here that won't get you up and dancing around within several seconds, but there are especially wonderful moments on the brilliant "Dingue Li Bangue" (which features Max de Castro and Wilson Simonhinha as well as Apollo 9) and on the relatively soft and subdued "De Hoje Nao Passa." And of course, Zuco 103 bring their own distinctive brand of youthful exuberance to bear on the simmering Brazilian funk of "Onde Anda o Meu Amor."
