First of all let me say this much; I, for one, am more than thrilled that Natalia didn't follow the recent trend of leaving everything you are behind and selling out to the English-speaking market. She is and always will be a "Latina", which is why she should never have to try to pass herself off as anything else. And as for all you non-spanish speakers... LEARN THE LANGUAGE! It's a very beautiful and easy to learn one, so... go ahead!

As for the album... being an Oreiro-fan for quite a while and having followed her singing career quite well, I can easily say this is by far the best album she has ever made (from the vocal point of view). Her vocal abilities seem to have grown inmensely, while her music style has also changed completely. Going from the typical latin sound presented on her debut album, she has now switched to a more powerful type of music, leaning more towards rock, althout still mixed with many latin elements, beats, sounds, etc. This is a very enjoyable product for anyone and a definite must have for all the Oreiro-fans. --- Alejandra Montero, amazon.com

Natalia Oreiro zaczynała od ról w mydlanych operach. Na swojej trzeciej płycie udowadnia jednak, ze piosenkarką została nie przez przypadek. Wraca z pełnym energii albumem "Turmalina", który, według niej, jest najważniejszym krokiem w jej dotychczasowej muzycznej karierze. Krążek został nagrany w Stanach Zjednoczonych, podczas światowego tournée Natalii, a jego produkcją zajął się Kike Santander. 11 utworów z nowj płyty utrzymanych jest w pop - rockowej konwencji, ale sporo tu też odwołań do brzmień z lat 70. i 80. --- muzyka.onet.pl

Talented singer and actress Natalia Oreiro started working as a model at the age of 12, having the opportunity to join the Brazilian star Xuxa's dancing staff two years later. While still a teenager, Oreiro moved to Argentina, participating in a soap opera called Inconquistable Corazón, followed by roles in 1995's Dulce Ana and Ricos y Famosos. While filming Un Argentino En Nueva York, Natalia Oreiro realized her passion for music. She debuted with her first album in 1998. In the year 2000, the artist was awarded by E! While Tu Veneno contains no shortage of Latin pop, it also has Natalia Oreiro's attempts for more rock credibility. Added to her usual mix of Latin rhythms and mainstream pop is a mixture of hard rock energy and even old-school production. While "Rio de la Plata" and "Como Te Olvido" are as polished and danceable as any Ricky Martin tune, "Aburrida" adds a Santana-like guitar lead to a song exhorting for more social consciousness. Similarly, "Febrero," an acoustic bluesy song, sounds like it could fit in a bar jukebox, and the title cut adds organs and guitar licks to a stripped-down arrangement. There's even a lovely cover of Boz Scaggs' "We're All Alone" with rewritten Spanish lyrics. Oreiro isn't always the strongest singer (her vocal limitations are most evident on "Febrero"), but she does fit her material, for the most part, and her charisma and energy make her compelling. In fact, it's really the unevenness of the songwriting that makes the album falter. The attempts at breaking from formula are commendable, but not entirely successful (though they do have their moments) and many of the straight-ahead pop songs, while pleasant and lively, are not especially distinctive. Still, Tu Veneno offers some intriguing moments, and makes for a promising listen. ---Victor W. Valdivia, Rovi
