Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler was born in Madrid, Spain, to Spanish singer Julio Iglesias and Spanish-Filipino socialite Isabel Preysler. In 1979, his parents' marriage was annulled. He was eight years old when he moved to the U.S., and at the age of 15, secretly began writing music. He studied business administration at the University of Miami for a year before he dropped out to pursue a musical career. Five years later, on September 25, 1995, he released his first album at 18 years of age. His second album, which was recorded in Spanish, was released on January 29, 1997.

Iglesias has made 10 albums. "Insomniac" was released 2008 and he did the official song for UEFA Europa League 2008, "Can You Hear Me", which he sang at the soccer league's finale. After "Insomniac" he made "Greatest Hits" and went on tour in 2009. His album "Euphoria" was his first bilingual album, featuring Spanish and English songs. His latest album "Sex and Love" was also bilingual.

Iglesias has sold over 137 million records worldwide, making him one of the best selling Latin artists ever. He has more number-one songs on Billboard's charts, more than any other single male artist.

Iglesias has recorded advertisements or provided songs for major brands, including Salsa Doritos (2002), PepsiCo (2003), Viceroy (2004), Tommy Hilfiger (2005), Azzaro (2009) Atlantico (2011-present), Soap opera theme songs (2013, 2014), Coty (2014), and Kia Soul (2014-2015). He also had guest acting roles on Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Two and a Half Men, and How I Met Your Mother.

Iglesias has supported many charities, including City of Hope, Red Cross, Music for Relief, Habitat For Humanity, Help for Heroes, Live Earth, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Music for Relief, Special Olympics, The Salvation Army, Alex's Lemonade, and Hunger Relief. ---imdb.com

Insomniac was designed for late nights at the club but Enrique Iglesias’ 2010 sequel Euphoria is as bright as its title, a firm return to romance for the loverman. Not that he’s entirely abandoned the idea of a dancefloor hit -- not with the blaring Pitbull collabo “I Like It,” complete with ice-sheet synths and an “All Night Long” interpolation, playing such a prominent role on the record -- nor does he rely on old-fashioned balladry, sometimes drawing from the chilly textures of Ryan Tedder on his duet with Nicole Scherzinger, letting Akon in for an Auto-Tuned reggae groove on “One Day at a Time,” which is enough for Euphoria to feel modern without alienating older audiences. Despite these contemporary flourishes, the heart of this album resides in Iglesias’ romantic balladeering, the kind of croon that crosses cultures, so much so that the tracks here slip between Spanish and English without much notice. No matter the language, Enrique maintains the seductive mood on Euphoria. ---Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

Wearing a hoodie and a boy-next-door smile on his face, the Enrique Iglesias on the cover of 95/08 looks nothing like the come-hither Lothario who favored form-fitting shirts during the bulk of his Latin crossover years. There's a reason for that: the Enrique Iglesias of 95/08 is not the Latin heartthrob American audiences were introduced to at the turn of the millennium, but the Spanish-language balladeer -- a romantic crooner who was already a superstar long before he set his sights on club airplay and the pop charts. It's this side of Iglesias that 95/08 anthologizes. It's the first collection spanning Iglesias' entire career, even if it's not really concerned with his English-language hits, only those that went to number one on the pop charts. The disc does include one or two of Iglesias' dance smashes, but the focus here is squarely on the ballads -- 12 romantic morsels that are as much a part of Iglesias' rise to stardom as of the romantic zeitgeist of Latin pop as a whole. The fact that most of the songs are drawn from Iglesias' '90s catalog and only a few are translated versions of his pop material is a testament to where the singer's forte lies. For that reason, it's a little bewildering that 95/08 is not quite the one-stop source for all of his Latin pop hits. A handful of significant ones are missing, specifically "No Llores por Mí," "Trapecista," "Miente," "Esperanza," and "Para Qué La Vida" -- incidentally, all five were included in a separate deluxe edition of the same collection. As it stands, 95/08 is a good and ample collection, albeit not an entirely conclusive hits retrospective from one of Latin music's biggest idols. ---Andree Farias, Rovi
