Hace cuatro años que Franco de Vita no grababa un álbum de estudio en su totalidad. Ahora su magia regresa con “Simplemente la verdad”, donde el artista ítalo-venezolano deja otra parte de sí para seguir enamorando y encantando con nuevas composiciones, una habilidad que, con su personalidad artística, no es fácil escuchar en los predios musicales de Iberoamérica. Luego de conocerse “Mi sueño”, el primer sencillo de este disco, tendremos la posibilidad de seguir encantándonos con los siguientes restantes once nuevos temas inéditos como “Probablemente”, “Si un día te vuelvo a ver” y “Cántame”, entre otros. Siguiendo su sello personal, De Vita ha escrito y producido todo el material del disco recibiendo la colaboración de talentos como César Sogbe, quien ha trabajado en la mezcla de sonidos con luminarias como Prince, Bob Marley y Jennifer López y en los instrumentos de percusión con Lee Levin, considerado por Billborad Magazine como uno de los bateristas más importantes por su contribución a artistas como Ricky Martin, Shakira, Juan Luis Guerra, Julio Iglesias, Barbara Streisand, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Backstreet Boys y Bee Gees, entre otros. Por parte de las guitarras, la tarea le fue asignada a Dan Warner, también con una importante experiencia como instrumentista en la música latina por sus trabajos para Celia Cruz, Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan y Christina Aguilera. “Simplemente la verdad” se vuelve uno de los discos donde la inspiración del artista roza lo cotidiano, reflejando la vida de su público con la sensibilidad que sólo él lo puede decir.

Una vida dedicada a la música El querido artista ha dedicado su vida a la música. Mientras crecía en Italia, su país de origen, y luego en Venezuela, su tierra por adopción, la música inundaba su casa desde la radio con baladas, rock sesenteros, serenatas, folclor venezolano, música caribeña y trova latinoamericana. “Mi generación creció escuchando mucho rock, es cierto. Era la música de la rebeldía; es decir, de la energía. Pero yo siento que el rock y la balada nunca estuvieron distantes. Tampoco el rock estaba lejos de Latinoamérica o el Caribe. Al final, quienes nos lanzamos al rock, lo hicimos a nuestra manera, con nuestro código genético", relata el artista. Es fácil imaginarlo hipnotizado por la radio, escuchando canciones que comenzaban a marcar su rumbo musical. Seguramente por eso, ya en su adolescencia, Franco supo que las buenas canciones son aquellas que se alojan en la piel y hablan con el lenguaje de lo inmediato.

Así, la música ganó su corazón y se volvió su fuente de vida. Con ella podría no sólo cantar, sino dejar salir su mundo interior. “Yo escribo como otros respiran, no porque me salga fácil, sino porque lo necesito para vivir. Escribir fácil o difícil no es el problema; es escribir para vivir. Y cuando escribo, ya sea que pase trabajo buscando una idea, la palabra correcta, estoy en mi elemento", dice el cantautor. Franco de Vita se entrega completamente al proceso de crear música. Es orgánico y trabaja con devoción. “Persigo lo natural porque es lo que siempre queda", asegura. Por eso es que las canciones de Franco muestran siempre su frescura, su atractivo y vitalidad. En efecto, quienes hayan hecho suyas canciones como “Te veo venir soledad", “No basta", “Si la ves" o “Ay Dios", encontrarán que nunca pasan de moda. Será por su sencillez o porque simplemente el artista hace relevante un simple asunto del corazón, pero cada uno de sus temas se transforman en clásicos.

“Tal vez se deba a que cuento historias, pero las cuento con sencillez, sin adornos. Nadie se resiste a una historia cuando está contada con simpleza. Eso sí, trato de mostrar una riqueza de vivencias. Como la vida misma. Porque el amor nunca es sencillo sino misterioso, aunque la tarea del autor consista en buscar ángulos inéditos para que los demás entiendan. Por eso trabajo en los detalles, en la sintonía entre letra y música. A veces las canciones salen rápido y a veces no. Pero esto es lo de menos, porque se trata de sentirme a gusto", confiesa. Su proceso creativo es simple: se sienta al piano, atrapa una melodía, la hace suya y luego la va poblando de palabras y de oraciones que van armando un relato que termina por ser regalo para su público. Una carrera de oro

Su primer disco titulado “Fantasía”, en 1986, lo catapultó en Venezuela como un artista que llegaba para quedarse y luego con “Mil y una historias", pasando por clásicos como “Al norte del sur" (1988), “Extranjero" (1990), “Voces a mi alrededor" (1993), “Fuera de este mundo" (1996), “Nada es igual" (1999) y el genial “Stop" (2004), fue abriendo puertas en todo en continente y España hasta consolidarse como uno de los pilares de la música pop y del romance latino. “Stop” se mantuvo entre los primeros en ventas en todo el continente con los éxitos “Si la ves”, junto al dúo sin Bandera y “Tú de qué vas”. Ese mismo año, recorrió las capitales de Estados Unidos en gira y compartió el escenario en varias arenas con su coterráneo Ricardo Montaner. En sus colaboraciones con otros artistas, el cantautor recorrió todos los estilos. Desde los reggatoneros Wisin y Yandel en “Oye dónde está el amor”, usando los coros de “Donde está el amor” y “Que no muera la esperanza”, ésta posicionándose en segundo lugar de la lista Billboard, hasta K-Paz de la Sierra, el popular grupo de música duranguense con quienes grabó “Un buen perdedor”. Como compositor, sus creaciones llegaron a las voces de Ricky Martin, Ana Belén y Chayanne, entre una larga lista de estrellas latinas.

“Un disco tiene mucho padres; yo soy el principal, por así decirlo, pero está el productor, el ingeniero de sonidos, los arregladores, los músicos que toman tu música y la recrean. Grabar es un placer, aunque uno se vuelva nervios. Que es muy justificado, porque uno quiere que la criatura venga al mundo con salud. Es hermoso", comenta. La historia de un artista está en su obra. Y en los discos y conciertos de Franco se revela el gusto de un cantautor enamorado de su arte y entregado a los seguidores. “Mil y una historias" fue su anterior grabación en la que hizo un brillante repaso de sus clásicos y otras nuevas como la hermosa “Tengo". El álbum incluyó temas como “Fuera de este mundo", “Sexo", “Un extraño en mi bañera", “No hay cielo" y “Somos tres", entre muchos otros. Este es un tiempo de mayor intimidad y nadie mejor que él para mostrarnos su alma al desnudo.

2004 witnessed the last album release by Franco De Vita, but today, four years later, his magic returns with “Simplemente la Verdad”, a record where the Venezuelan singer/songwriter shares a little bit more of his soul enamoring and enchanting his fans with his newest compositions. A gift which, along his artistic personality, is not easy to find among today’s musicians. After introducing “Mi Sueño”, the album’s first single, we will have the opportunity to continue to be enchanted with 11 new songs included in this release, such as “Cuando Tus Ojos Me Miran” “Probablemente”, “Si un día te vuelvo a ver”, “No Se Olvida”, among many others.

Being true to his personal seal, De Vita has written and produced the entire album’s material with the collaboration of distinguished talents such as Cesar Sogbe, who has worked in the sound mix of artists (Prince, Bob Marley and Jennifer Lopez) as well as with percussionist Lee Levin, considered by Billboard Magazine as one of the best drummers in the industry (Ricky Martin, Shakira, Juan Luis Guerra, Julio Iglesias, Barbara Streisand, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Backstreet Boys, The Bee Gees, among many others). The captivating sound of the guitars was put in the hands of Dan Warner, who has vast experience as an instrumentalist in the Latin music (Celia Cruz, Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan and Christina Aguilera). “Simplemente la Verdad” has became an album where the artist’s inspiration graces the everyday life, reflecting his public life with a sensibility only he can portray.

A life dedicated to music The beloved artist has dedicated his entire life to music. His house was filled with music that varied from ballads and seventies rock to serenades, Venezuelan folklore, Caribbean music and Latin American trova. “My generation grew up listening to a lot of rock, it’s true. It was music of rebellion; that is to say, music of the energy. But I think that rock music and ballads were never that distant. Neither was rock far from Latin America or the Caribbean. In the end, those of us who jumped into rock, did it in our own way, with our own genetic code”, relates the artist. It’s easy to picture him being hypnotized by the radio, listening to songs which started to define his musical path. Surely for that reason, already in his adolescence, Franco knew that a good song is the one that goes skin deep and speaks in a timeless language.

Thus, music conquered his heart and turned into his fountain of life. With it, he could not only sing, but let out his entire inner self. “I write as others breathe, not because it comes out of me easily, but because I need it to live. Difficult or easy writing is not the problem; the problem is writing to live. And when I write, either for work or just looking for an idea, the right word, I am in my element”, says the famed singer/songwriter. Franco De Vita devotes himself entirely to the process of creating music. It’s organic and he works with true devotion. “I search for what is natural because it’s what always remains”, he says. That’s why Franco’s songs always portray their freshness, their attractiveness and vitality. In effect, those who have adopted his songs as their own such as “Te Amo”, “No basta”, “Si la vez” or “Tu Te Que Vas”, will find they never fad out. Maybe it’s their simplicity or maybe the artist is just making heartache relevant, but each of his singles transforms into a classic.

“Maybe it’s because I tell stories, but I tell them with simplicity, without adornments. Nobody can resist a story when it is told with simplicity. Also, I always try to show a wealth of experiences. Like life itself. Because love is never simple but indeed mysterious, although the author’s job consist in looking for original angles so the audience can understand. That’s why I work in the details, in the tuning between lyrics and music. Sometimes songs come out pretty quickly, sometimes they don’t. But that’s what matters the least, because it is all about feeling content about it”, he confesses. He starts creative process by sitting down in front of his piano, catches a tune, and makes it his, and then he continues to populate the rhythm with words and phrases which start building up a story which ends up being a gift for his public. A career of gold

His first album titled “Fantasía”, released in 1986, catapulted him in Venezuela as an artist who had arrived to stay. His recent live CD/DVD “Mil y una historias” (2006), goes through classics such as “Al norte del sur” (1988), “Extranjero (1990), “Voces a mi alrededor” (1993), “Fuera de este mundo” (1996), “Nada es igual” (1999), and the genius “Stop” (2004), he opened doors in the entire American continent and in Spain until consolidating himself as one of the main pillars of pop music and Latin romance in the world. “Stop”, remained among the top albums in sales in the entire American continent with worldwide hits such as “Tú de que vas” and “Si la ves” featuring the duet Sin Bandera. That same year, he toured the United States and shared the stage in various arenas with fellow Venezuelan singer Ricardo Montaner.

In his collaborations with other artists, the singer/songwriter has been a part of almost every musical style. From reggaeton with the famed duo Wisin y Yandel in the hit “Oye Donde está el amor”, was #2 on the Billboard airplay charts; De Vita sings the choruses “Donde está el amor” and “Que no muera de esperanza”, then to K-Paz de la Sierra, the popular group of duranguense music for whom he re-recorded “Un buen perdedor”. As a composer, his creations have reached the voices of Ricky Martin and Chayanne, among a long list of many other Latin artists. “A record has many parents; I am the principal, just to say it in that way, but you also have the producer, the sound engineers, and the musicians who take your music and bring it to life. Recording is a pleasure, even though you might become somewhat nervous. Which is very justifiable, because you want your kid to come to the world full of health; it’s beautiful,” he comments. The story of an artist lies in his creation; And Franco’s records and concerts reveal the taste of a singer/songwriter in love with his craft and devoted to his followers. “Mil y una historias” was his previous live release where he went over a brilliant repertoire of classics and new song “Tengo”. The album also included hits such as “Fuera de este mundo”, “Sexo”, “Un extraño en mi bañera”, “No hay cielo” and “Somos tres”, among many others.

Franco De Vita (born January 23, 1954 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a singer-songwriter of Latin music. His first disc as a solo artist garnered three Spanish-language hits in Venezuela. He signed with the Sony label in 1988, and in 1990, his album Extranjero had a song that reached No. 1 on the U.S. Latin charts and won an MTV Video Music Award. His 2004 album Stop reached the Top 10 throughout Latin America and on the U.S. Latin charts.

In 2005, an expanded edition of Stop was released, titled Stop + Algo Más, that included remixes and live recordings, as well as No Sé Lo Que Me Das, De Vita's first recording in English. The following year saw the release of Mil y Una Historias En Vivo, a two-disc live album that also featured four studio tracks, including collaborations with Alejandro Fernández and Diego El Cigala. A DVD version was released simultaneously.
