17: Greatest Hits is a greatest hits album by the Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin. It was released in the United Kingdom and Ireland on July 11, 2011

Enrique "Ricky" Martín Morales (born December 24, 1971), better known as Ricky Martin, is a Puerto Rican pop singer and actor who achieved prominence, first as a member of the Latin boy band Menudo, then as a solo artist since 1991.

During his career he has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide. He is the founder of Ricky Martin Foundation (in Spanish Fundación Ricky Martin), a non-profit charity organization. Ricky Martin's exuberant 1999 single "Livin' la Vida Loca" made him a prominent figure of Latin dance-pop. Martin got his start with the all-boy pop group Menudo; after five years with the group, he released his Spanish-language solo album, Ricky Martin, in 1991. He also acted on stage and on TV in Mexico, becoming a modest star there. In 1994 he starred on the American TV soap opera General Hospital, playing a Puerto Rican singer. In 1999, after several albums in Spanish, he released his first English-language album (also titled Ricky Martin), which included the salsa-style "Livin' la Vida Loca". The album sold 17 million copies and brought Martin international fame. His other albums include A Medio Vivir (1995), Vuelve (1998), Sound Loaded (2000, with the hit "She Bangs"), Life (2005), and the compilation album 17 (2008). In 2010 Martin announced that he was a "fortunate homosexual man", ending years of fan speculation on the topic.

On the edge of the new millennium, Martin—almost by himself—gave Latino music an international face. An acclaimed performance at the 1999 Grammy Awards launched Martin into worldwide super-stardom. As Entertainment Weekly's Andrew Essex reported, "his leather-pants, electro-pelvis version of 'La Copa de la Vida' single-handedly goosed a very dull [Grammy] telecast, earning him a standing ovation." Martin's twin sons, Matteo and Valentino, were born via a surrogate mother in 2008. Martin also co-owns a Miami restaurant, Casa Salsa, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007.

12 Mátame Otra Vez (Acoustic Version)
13 Nada (Dharmik Version)

Ricky Martin’s tenth album is pure class, filled with smoldering ballads, intimate production, and openhearted sincerity. Martin can still deliver the kind of beat-driven smash that made him an international superstar, like the hard-grooving opener “Adiós” or Yotuel-assisted "La Mordidita”. But A Quien Quiera Escuchar is all about graceful, organic arrangements and Martin’s arresting sincerity. Acoustic guitars, swaying percussion, and jazz trumpet add glowing atmosphere to ballads like "Disparo al Corazón,” “Nada,” and "Mátame Otra Vez.” Thanks to Martin's poised confidence, the pop star comes across more captivating than ever.

„To jedna z moich ulubionych płyt” - mówi Ricky.

The European collection Greatest Hits rounds up Ricky Martin’s big millennial crossover hits -- “Livin’ la Vida Loca,” of course, plus “Maria,” “She Bangs,” and “Shake Your Bon-Bon” -- then balances them with other pop singles that didn’t ascend quite so far in the charts, duets with Christina Aguilera, radio edits, Latin hits, and the 1998 Official World Cup song, “The Cup of Life.” It may be a little scattershot in its attempt to cover so much ground, but it’s a good cross section of Ricky’s peak. ---Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

The last time Ricky Martin released a record -- way back in 2005, a good six years before Musica + Alma + Sexo -- the Puerto Rican singer was half a decade removed from his last blast of crossover success and still closeted. In 2011, he’s one year removed from coming out and even further removed from the place he used to occupy in pop culture, that of a handsome, dexterous crossover artist with a flair for frivolous club/dance cuts and adult contemporary crossovers. Theoretically, this loosening of expectations would give him some freedom to roam on Musica + Alma + Sexo, and it does to the extent that he does not feel compelled to devote the record to the English language. His two English cuts, the Joss Stone duet “The Best Thing About Me Is You” and “Shine,” are buried at the end of the record, the rest of the album sung in Spanish -- but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Musica has a distinctly Latin lilt in its rhythms. This is clean, gleaming dance and lite-pop, all shepherded by Desmond Child, the old studio pro responsible from for co-writing hits for Kiss, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, and Cher, not to mention Ricky’s own “Livin’ la Vida Loca.” Child helps steer Musica + Alma + Sexo toward a high thread-count upscale pop that knows no borders. It’s all pleasant enough and Martin has enough effortless charm to keep things light and sometimes even engaging, but it has no hook, no single, no signature style to lead a listener in, either for a first listen or second spin. ---Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
