Songs such as "A Felicidade" and "Desafinado" generated the bossa nova movement of the early '60s that inspired the likes of Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd, and Miles Davis. This 1967 album features Jobim sharing vocals with Sinatra on "The Girl from Ipanema" and "How Insensitive." Three standards--"Change Partners" by Irving Berlin; "I Concentrate on You" by Cole Porter; and Robert Wright, George Forrest, and Alexander Borodin's "Baubles, Bangles, and Beads"--round out the program of seven Jobim tunes. This is a lovely taste of Latin melody and rhythm from two masters of relaxed swing. --Stanley BOOT

The legendary Ol' Blue Eyes sings the Bossa Nova icon's compositions and does more than justice to his songs. His interpretations are awesomely beautiful and incredibly enchanting. He covers these songs with utmost confidence considering that these songs are not his normal repertoire. In my opinion, this is one of Sinatra's finest albums ever recorded. With A.C. From beginning to end, Frank Sinatra: A Voice on Air (1935-1955) envelops the listener in the atmosphere surrounding the creation of these masterful radio performances in the 1930s, '40s and '50s.

Meticulously restored and remastered in high-resolution from the original glass and aluminum radio transcription discs and magnetic tape masters these vintage, historic recordings most of them unheard since their original broadcast in the 1940s and 1950s sound more rich and vibrant than ever before. All of the warmth and vibrancy that are hallmarks of Frank Sinatra's vocal brilliance have been preserved, and showcased with unprecedented fidelity. ---Editorial Reviews, amazon.com

Filling in a gap in Frank Sinatra's history, Legacy's 2015 box A Voice on Air collects over 100 radio broadcasts recorded between 1935 and 1955. This is the first collection to chronicle this era -- over 90 of its 100 tracks are previously unreleased -- and it's pulled from a variety of sources, including the Sinatra estate's vaults, the Library of Congress, and the Paley Center for Media, each strand assisting in sterling re-creations of original broadcasts from Frank's bobbysocks days, World War II, and the nascent saloon singer of the '50s. Sinatra wound up singing some of these songs in the studio but not necessarily in these arrangements, a wrinkle that would be tantalizing enough but a good portion of A Voice on Air is devoted to songs he only sang on the air. Some of these are little more than novelties -- the flashiest being "(Li'l Abner) Don't Marry That Gal," a song co-written by cartoonist Al Capp cashing in on his hit strip -- and there is a fair share of duets, with both musicians (Nat King Cole, Slim Gaillard) and cultural figures (Gov. Jimmie Davis comes in to sing his "You Are My Sunshine"). Part of the appeal of this set is how the very fact that it's grounded in specific years accentuates transience: there are jokes that need footnotes, broadcasts from World War II, commercials for cigarettes, and other musty conventions that never quite seep onto Sinatra's studio recordings.

Here, they're part of the main text. There might be a fair amount of standards peppered throughout the set but they're unwitting anchors for a set that's proudly not timeless. Instead, it showcases a Sinatra on the rise, a singer relying on his inventive phrasing and incandescent charisma, elements that are undeniable and vital even when heard in these appealing old-fashioned surroundings. --- Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

download (mp3 @320 kbs):

oboom yandex 4shared mega mediafire zalivalka cloudmailru uplea

back
Frank Sinatra - A Voice on Air (1935-1955) CD2 (2015) 2016-01-06T17:02:08Z 2016-01-06T17:02:08Z http://www.theblues-thatjazz.com/en/jazz/976-frank-sinatra/19030-frank-sinatra-a-voice-on-air-1935-1955-cd2-2015.html bluesever administration@theblues-thatjazz.com
Frank Sinatra - A Voice on Air (1935-1955) CD2 (2015)

<img src="http://www.theblues-thatjazz.com/ObrMuz/Jazz/Frank Sinatra/voiceonair.jpg" border="0" alt="Image could not be displayed. Counted among the all-time best selling artists, his albums have sold more than 150 million records worldwide. Having entered show business during the 1930s, he gave his last performance in the 1990s! Over his incredibly long career he has entertained several generations of music lovers and cinema goers with his melodious voice, acting skills and charismatic personality. From a young age little Frank knew that he was meant to be a singer. While in high school he was unruly and rowdy and dropped out without graduating. A big fan of Bing Crosby, he had started singing for tips as a child and became a professional in his teens. After playing with some bands he launched his solo career and found great success which prompted him to venture into films. There too he was successful though success did not come easily to him. He experienced his share of difficulties though he always managed to bounce back. Being both a popular singer and a critically acclaimed actor greatly added to his mass appeal and he is considered to be one of the greatest entertainers in American history. ---thefamouspeople.com

Frank Sinatra to jeden z najwspanialszych wokalistów ubiegłego wieku, obdarzony magicznym głosem. Zasłynął dzięki takim przebojom jak "Strangers In The Night", "Can't Take My Eyes Of You, "New York, New York", "I've Got You Under My Skin" czy "My Way", które dziś zaliczają się do klasyki.

Mając 20 lat dołączył do grupy wokalnej The Hoboken Four. Szansa na coś więcej pojawiła się dopiero, gdy usłyszał go trębacz Henry James. Później piosenkarz nawiązał współpracę z zespołem, którego liderem był Tommy Dorsey. Pierwsze solowe nagrania Sinatry to rok 1939, zaś największe szlagiery z tamtego okresu nagrane zostały właśnie we współpracy z Dorseyem.

That Old Black Magic", "I've Got A Crush On You" i "How Deep Is The Ocean".

W swojej karierze Sinatra nagrał ponad 40 płyt i zagrał w ponad 15 filmach. Jednym z najlepiej sprzedających się albumów był "Sinatra At The Sands", zaś wśród singli królował wspomniany już szlagier "Strangers In The Night." Counted among the all-time best selling artists, his albums have sold more than 150 million records worldwide.

Jednym z najlepiej sprzedających się albumów był "Sinatra At The Sands", zaś wśród singli królował wspomniany już szlagier "Strangers In The Night." This is a real shame because much of his best material from this same period has turned out to be from the very sessions that he quickly abandoned. This continued on until the early '90s, when Sinatra's wife, Barbara, persuaded him to record these two albums of duets. She wanted to get him energized about his career again and also wanted to have a piece of his recorded legacy to call her own (royalties from Sinatra's Capitol recordings go to charity, royalties from his Reprise recordings go to his children, while the ones from both of these duets albums mainly go to Barbara). Both of these albums were huge successes and have actually outsold most of his original releases. The only problem is that they shouldn't have been made in the first place. While neither disc is terrible, they are both pretty bad when held against most of Sinatra's considerable back catalog. This matter only gets worse when all of the songs heard here are famous Sinatra standards done in the same tempos that everybody knows. So, not only is the 78-year-old Sinatra competing against his younger self, he's also competing against the exact versions of songs that he cut in his prime. This two-disc set is really aimed as a gift purchase during the holidays. If you really want to pick up some Frank Sinatra, you'd be better served by getting a two-disc overview of his Capitol or Reprise years than this set. ---Nick Dedina

Capitol repackaged and re-released Frank Sinatra's Duets/Duets II as a slipcased box set to coincide with the singer's 90th birthday. It's not a bad way to acquire the albums if you don't already own them, and it does include one bonus track "My Way" with Willie Nelson, making this version of marginal interest to hardcore collectors. ~ Al Campbell

Say what you will about Sinatra's over-produced Duets and Duets II being the appropriate items to present as the "90th Birthday Limited Collecter's Edition" but once again the fans are milked for one more unreleased track. This is a real shame because much of his best material from this same period has turned out to be from the very sessions that he quickly abandoned.

Sinatra and Willie Nelson duet on "My Way," but it's pretty obvious that as long as fans are willing to pay, we'll keep on getting the same-old rehashed tracks their way.

If you don't have this material already, this is probably the best place to get it, but if you're looking to celebrate Sinatra's 90th in a more fitting way, there are dozens of CD that are more worthy of your time. ---Jeff Barlow, amazon.com

download (mp3 @320 kbs):

uploaded yandex 4shared mediafire mega solidfiles zalivalka cloudmailru filecloudio oboom

back
Frank Sinatra - Monte Carlo (1958) 2010-01-28T00:01:02Z 2010-01-28T00:01:02Z http://www.theblues-thatjazz.com/en/jazz/976-frank-sinatra/3246-frank-sinatra-monte-carlo-1958.html bluesever administration@theblues-thatjazz.com
Frank Sinatra - Monte Carlo (1958)

<img src="http://www.theblues-thatjazz.com/ObrMuz/Jazz/FrankSinatra/montecarlo1958.jpg" border="0" alt="Image could not be displayed. How About You?
Frank Sinatra – vocals Nelson Riddle – arranger, conductor

After the ballad-heavy In the Wee Small Hours, Frank Sinatra and Nelson Riddle returned to up-tempo, swing material with Songs for Swingin' Lovers!, arguably the vocalist's greatest swing set. Like Sinatra's previous Capitol albums, Songs for Swingin' Lovers! consists of reinterpreted pop standards, ranging from the ten-year-old "You Make Me Feel So Young" to the 20-year-old "Pennies From Heaven" and "I've Got You Under My Skin." Sinatra is supremely confident throughout the album, singing with authority and joy. That joy is replicated in Riddle's arrangements, which manage to rethink these standards in fresh yet reverent ways. Working with a core rhythm section and a full string orchestra, Riddle writes scores that are surprisingly subtle. "I've Got You Under My Skin," with its breathtaking middle section, is a perfect example of how Sinatra works with the band. Both swing hard, stretching out the rhythms and melodies but never losing sight of the original song. Songs for Swingin' Lovers! never loses momentum. The great songs keep coming and the performances are all stellar, resulting in one of Sinatra's true classics. ---Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

download (mp3 @320 kbs):

uploaded yandex 4shared mediafire mega solidfiles zalivalka cloudmailru filecloudio oboom

back

Frank Sinatra - Songs for Swingin' Lovers!

---Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

download (mp3 @320 kbs):

uploaded yandex 4shared mediafire mega solidfiles zalivalka cloudmailru filecloudio oboom

back
