Ten years ago the Mike Andersen Band began in the classic soul/blues tradition. Through a natural process, always with an urge to push creative boundaries, the band has now found their own strong, personal, and contemporary style! They do not descriminate between the genres: soul, blues, and jazz, but draw freely from all elements of black american music. ---cdbaby.com

When Mike Andersen made his first footprints on the Danish blues and soul scene with the album “My Love For The Blues” in 2002, he demonstrated a constant commitment and vision of sustained musical development. His love for soul music has over the years shone through more and more, and that particular passion was very evident in his breakthrough 2010 album “Echoes”. That album received five stars in the nation’s leading newspaper (Politiken); then, it was voted in the top ten of the year’s most significant albums by the listeners of Danish Radio’s Program Four; and as the honors piled up “Echoes” was nominated in all three (Grammy-like) Danish Music Awards categories for 2011.

Turning 35 years old and feeling the need for new directions, Mike assembled a mostly new crew of Aarhus musicians he had admired over the years for the 2012 album “Mike Andersen”. Very pleased these musicians joined his band, Mike fully appreciates and integrates their new inspiration and sound into this album. The joy and lively vitality so evident in this fourth full-length album extends into his cover of “white man’s music”, the Beatles’ 1969 hit “Something”. The stirring performance of this classic shows great empathy and abiding respect for the song’s writer, George Harrison.

Mike’s musical curiosity and desire to explore new pastures also led to a long-distance collaboration with two Jamaican background singers, Nicole “Nikki” Burt and Abbygayedallas. They provided tremendous vocal talents to the full-swing soul gem “You Do not Need Me” and Nikki’s duet with Mike on “Hey Baby”.

Finally, It is noteworthy that for the first time Mike Andersen has written a politically inspired song. “Is It All Gonna Be Alright?” came in the wake of the horrific July 2011 tragedies in Norway.

The album’s release date provides a musical preview of the ample opportunities to see and hear Mike Andersen present his music live at numerous European and Scandinavian venues and festivals this summer. --- mikeandersen.com
