BB’s music is a mix of roots rock with a blues base. BB has always claimed blues to be his first love, but comes from a generation that loves to rock. Their first CD “Blues Had A Baby”, was released in 1994 on RCA/BMB and received generous support from radio fans. If you have to categorize the music, it is somewhere between newer artists Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Blues Travelers. But make no mistake, BB Chung King & The Buddaheads are the original LA version!

BB keeps quite busy with the Buddaheads, but also finds time to write, record and produce music for other artists. BB has written songs for blues legends such as Lonnie Brooks, Tinsley Ellis and recently helped Ruth Brown receive a Grammy for her performance of his song “Too Little, Too Late”. Then he produced, wrote, engineered and played on B.J. Sharp’s Grammy nominated CD “Never Felt No Blues”. Her CD reached number 4 in the charts in Europe, without being issued there! --- buddaheads.com

"Howlin' At The Moon", the latest studio disc from the BUDDAHEADS, featuring premier asian blues/rock guitarist-vocalist, Alan Mirikitani a.k.a B.B. Chung King, is an outstanding collection of pure, classy, diverse, awesome blues/rock heavy guitar power trio joy. "Joyful Noise" as we call it at GROOVEYARD RECORDS, a new label dedicated to outstanding TOTAL GUITAR.

"Howlin' At The Moon" features 16 trax (78 minutes) of awesome top-shelf blues rock riffage from this amazing, gifted guitarist, that was recorded through the years. The music ranges from full-out killer blues/rock riff rippers, to classic mid-tempo in the back pocket blues burners, to cycodelic trippy hendrixy jams ("dance maria" is Alan's musical tribute toJimi), to deep beautiful dynamic bluesy minor ballads and everything in-between. There is something here for everybody. And as an added bonus, the "Howlin' At The Moon" disc features "special guest" blues/rock axeslinger supreme & good musical brother Philip Sayce jamming hard on his strat with Alan Mirikitani & the BUDDAHEADS on the title track. A killer BUDDAHEADS jam worthy of the price of admission alone.

Alan Mirikitani is a "man on a blues-rock mission" and he sets the record straight on the "Howlin' At The Moon" disc. Not only is he an awesome guitarist and soulful, clean, melodic vocalist, what sets him apart from the rest is his strong ability to write incredible outstanding songs with lyrics that really mean something. Raw and powerful, yet melodically rich, the songs (and we mean "songs") on "Howlin' At The Moon" are classy, diverse, mature and full of depth complete with classic powerful heavy guitar riffage. This is REAL music for REAL people. The BUDDAHEADS are blues/rock at it's best. "Howlin' At The Moon" is an incredible musical document on this incredibly gifted guitarist and band.

Alan Mirikitani has been playing his axe since he was 4 years young(!!!) and he first hit the musical scene with the BUDDAHEADS back in 1994 with the major label (RCA RECORDS) debut, "Blues Had A Baby...", an awesome display of outstanding dynamic blues/rock riffage. Several other killer Buddaheads discs followed, including a record deal in Japan. Even though you may not have heard of him and you should have, Alan Mirikitani has been keeping busy through the years writing great outstanding music and also found success with film and t.v. soundtrack work. He also started up his own recording studio called DAWGHOUSE, where all of the trax for "Howlin' At The Moon" were recorded (...have you ever been to electric dawgland?!!!). Alan Mirikitani deserves all the credit he can get for his vast musical efforts. ---cdbaby.com

Alan Mirikitani, A.k.a. BB Chung King, is an L.A. legend on the electric guitar and the leader of one of L.A.'s most famous bands, The Buddaheads. A complete master of rock, blues, rhythm and blues, jazz, and pop, there are few who have ever played with his confidence, mastery, and impeccable taste. Guitar playing, however, is only a small part of his talent. He is also a commanding singer, a world-class song writer, having written for Shamekia Copeland, Curtis Salgado, Ruth Brown, Bettye Lavette, and many others, an accomplished producer, a brilliant arranger, and if that's not enough, a highly sought after engineer. Only DaVinci was as well-rounded. It is no surprise then, that his newest album, MUMBO JUMBO, combines all aspects of his immense talent and may very well become a classic of the genre.

Mirikitani's collection of 14 essentially guitar-driven compositions, give him plenty of room to shock, rock, and amaze with the intensity with his playing and the emotion in his voice. The songs are all extremely well-written with great melodies and hooks. In addition, they have a directness and simplicity, with lyrics that paint colorful pictures and evoke heartfelt emotions, from pain to joy, from the blues to raw, aggressive party time feel and ends with a soft love-filled ode to his youngest son, William.

Mirikitani is backed on Mumbo Jumbo by Lee Spath on drums, Boyd Lefan on electric bass and also gets a little help from some very classy friends. --- Dennis Walker, amazon.com

The buddaheads have been rockin' since 1989, considered by many to be the best blues rock band out of Los Angeles. Formally on RCA records, the buddaheads now are independent and are able to focus on there music without the pressure of a major label breathing down there backs for a (commercial hit). Great musicianship, great vocals, and legendary guitar playing, along with our secret weapon great lyrics! You can't go wrong here! The title of this new cd is (REAL) real music for real people! if you like hard rockin' blues, you will love this cd! ---cduniverse.com

Go For Broke is killer...blues rock at it's best. BB's solos are as tasty as it gets. His playing has elements of the best of SRV and Hendrix but with his own original twist added in. Add to that a great production and BB's blues soaked vocals and Go For Broke is a definite winner. There isn't a weak song in the bunch and they're all self penned originals, not covers you've heard a million times. Highly recommended. ---Steve, cdbaby.com

Make no mistake, BB Chung King & The Buddaheads are the original Los Angeles Version!

BB is always busy working on new Buddaheads material, but also finds time to write, record and produce for other artists. He has written songs for blues legends such as Lonnie Brooks, Coco Montoya, Shemekia Copeland and he helped Ruth Brown receive a Grammy nomination for her performance of his song, "Too Little, Too Late :. he also wrote and produced tracks with Grammy winning partner Dennis Walker, for the critically acclaimed Bettye Lavette album, A Woman Like Me".

You can hear the Buddaheads paying tribute to Lowell George. Together with Eddie Money, they perform the title track to the tribute album titled "Rock and Roll Doctor" (a song that appears as a bonus track on The Buddaheads "LIVE JAPAN" CD)

"PLAY HARD", the third full-length album, was released in Japan by Kiagan Records.

The fourth studio offering was, "GO FOR BROKE", a breathtaking collection of Rockin' Blues and power packed ballads. More great Buddaheads music can be found on their last studio release, "REAL".

The Buddaheads music can also be found in the following films: My Cousin Vinny, Heaven and Earth, Robocop II, Contact, Bring Down the Stars, Great Expectations, and Chuck Norris' Forest Warrior.

"I am thankful that I have the studio to work from when I am not on the road. It is the perfect place for me and the band to flesh out new ideas and it also makes a perfect living room environment for a blues-full jam when friends are in town", smiles BB.

BB was also busy with projects outside of The Buddaheads recordings last year. He finished mixing the Corby Yates record, which was released in Europe last April and started work on Belgian artist Boogie Boy, whose style and charisma is likened to music legend, Ray Charles. ---myspace.com
